Cobra Kai - The Karate Kid Saga Continues

Ironically Miguel entering the coma might be the most vindicating thing about Kreese's way. Remember that if Miguel hadn't shown mercy, maybe Robbie would have gotten a concussion or broken bone and that's it.

Sure, but all that came about because they weren't entirely expecting anyone from Johnny's camp to show leniency, which was around the time Johnny started to see his path may be wrong. In showing leniency, sadly Miguel let his guard down and Robbie's swiftness caught him off-guard and off-balance. And dang man, those floors are some of the hardest floors around. I'm surprised he didn't suffer more damage than he did. That fall was absolutely devastating to watch. So, if anything it only pushed Johnny into realizing what kind of path he was leading his students down into while he was letting them down in the process. Since then, he'd wanted to strive to do better with them. And well, Kreese took over completely and we know how well that went.

I think Daniel perhaps shouldn't have trained Robbie, as it likely only fueled the rivalry leading Johnny to feel bitter about it. Interestingly, I always kind of felt Miguel was more Miyagi-do in terms of philosophy. He didn't strike me as a violent person, but rather someone who'd been let down through a dark path.

Miguel only seemed dark side-ish in a handful of episodes toward the end of season 2. He didn't go nearly as far down the path as Hawk.

I see Robbie as someone desperately looking for a father figure and who gravitates toward the ones that hate his biological one. All Daniel saw was a troubled kid needing to learn discipline and self defense, he didn't learn who his father was until right before the tournament. Robbie didn't kick Miguel off the railing because Daniel put him against Cobra Kai, he did it because he was jealous over Sam.

Well, I realized that this show is set in an alternate universe when
Hawk broke his friend's arm with no consequence whatever
It was really too much.
Agreed, in general it was too much for the character, especially when you see how it plays out at the end of season 3. If I had one critical point of the series it's this character arc for him in season 3.

And making it worse is the fact that both Miguel's and Dimitri's injuries were so visceral. Bruises and cuts are one thing to be expected, and wouldn't necessarily have warranted police interruption. But with the series, I feel the writers have stepped up the violence to the point that no police intervention is no longer appropriate. There has to be some form of followup. The fact that someone had their arm broken and another sent into a coma is proof of this. I sincerely hope this is the season where Cobra Kai (with Kreese at the head) get some kind of major pushback. If not, I'll be severely disappointed.

Sidenote: I had a bully in high-school, and I was utterly terrified of him. A few years after graduating, I'm sitting watching the news on TV when I see a news story about him having stabbed someone at one of the local theatres.

I got the impression Hawk got away with that because Kreese had already biased the police in his favor with his humble veteran act and he could have just said “They ambushed us, my kids were defending themselves”.

But that doesn’t work in the finale.

Yeah, definitely not, especially when there was a mediation meeting going on and the more aggressive Cobra Kai members crashed the party.

Season four comes out Dec. 31.

Considering Thomas Ian Griffith and Ralph Macchio are actually the same age in real life. Griffith is likely the only actor from the original films NOT dying his hair. Which works out well because it helps sell Terry Silver being much older than the actor playing him.

I am thrilled by this. He was my favorite part of the third movie since I first saw it when I was 11. No question he will be great in the part again. Hoping there is an unexpected twisted in his motivations this time though. Sure he owes Kreese for saving his life. But he already tried helping him resurrect Cobra Kai and that failed. When Daniel defeated Mike Barnes - Terry Silver quickly walked away. Love him to pull a double cross on John Kreese for his own twisted reasons.
