Clone Wars feature film

Plus the Force Unleashed game covers a chunk of the III-IV time period as well. There's also a few novels, comics and other stuff that deals with the gap as well.

I just saw the Clone Wars movie and I liked it. I enjoyed the action. Seeing the pretty blonde lady that does the voice of the girl helped me appreciate her more. The Clone Troopers are pretty cool.

I've also played the Force Unleashed for an hour or two. It was alot of fun tossing people around with the force.

I enjoyed the movie when it first came out, except for the awful droid dialogue of course. But man, the TV show is so much better. :) It's too bad the feature came out and busted people's expectations for a good TV show.

Though The Force Unleashed is incompatible with pretty much all of the rest, without a massive stroke of stupidity on the part of Palpatine/Vader.

I thought that the movie was pretty good but I'm a huge Star Wars fan so I tend to enjoy every little piece of the SW universe that I can- the better and the worse. Clone Wars is definitely geared more towards a slightly younger audience although, as the show has demonstrated so far, the producers are NOT afraid to show some of the horrors of war and the brutality of some of its participants (i.e. Grievous). The animation, character designs, and voice talents are, in general, well done. I'm particularly pleased that they were able to use Christopher Lee as Count Dooku in the Clone Wars movie, as well as use Matthew Wood as General Grievous in the TV series.

My major "peeve" with the TV show is not really the content or quality of the show but rather the fact that they chose to cover a time period that has already been done before, albeit in a smaller scale. So far, they've been able to come up with some decent stories that delve a little further into the 3-year "Clone Wars" started in Episode II and essentially concluded in Episode III but I'm really more interested in the post-ROTJ period and OT characters and, more specifically, an adaptation of Zahn's "Thrawn Trilogy" and/or some other good post-ROTJ stories.

^ I recall reading somewhere that Lucas refuses to visit the post ROTJ period because he feels the story ends there.

I hadn't heard that. It's really too bad because, as many writers have shown, there's a LOT of storytelling potential post-ROTJ as the Empire, although obviously SEVERELY weakened by the deaths of Vader and Palpatine, would not have realistically vanished overnight nor would the Rebels have (re-)created a new galactic government overnight either. As all of the writers have suggested both of these things took a LONG time to happen.

Despite Mr. Lucas' apparent thoughts about post-ROTJ material, he doesn't seem to have any problems with continuing to revisit previously explored time periods even though there are still even some major gaps in the PT era as well. For instance, there is a TEN YEAR gap between Episodes 1 & 2

Maybe a series that takes place within Episodes 4 & 5? There's at least 2-3 years worth of time in between them that could be explored in the OT-era or maybe even a CGI-animated adaptation of "Shadows of the Empire", which takes place between Episodes 5 & 6. While it isn't the best of the EU isn't it already considered canon?

..............Well, maybe when the coffers start to run dry for Mr. Lucas and/or his heirs...................?

No thanks. That's the one area that's already been mined even more thoroughly than the Clone Wars. :borg:

It's as canon as the other books and comics and video games--other EU material is bound to it, but Lucas isn't.

So would like to see a Episode 7-8-9 and a solo 10th Star Wars film. Yuzauhn Vong would make good villians for 7-8-9

Well, I got my copy. I still like the movie. :D And I'm loving the series too.

One scene in the deleted scenes portion I wish they had kept in the film was the rancor pit scene. I thought Asajj Ventress was pretty cool in that one, as well as Artoo's actions to tilt the playing field (literally) and throw Ventress and her droids off their advantage. the At least it is available in some form.

Really? You mean in books? Just about every era of Star Wars "history" has been covered to varying degrees in books, comics, etc. INCLUDING the Clone Wars era but the gist of my post is that I want to see some different areas covered in an animated (or otherwise) series.

I know that eventually we're going to be getting a live action series set between Episodes 3 & 4 but I would like to see the continuing adventures of the OT characters that got most of us into the franchise from the start. Don't get me wrong, the PT characters are enjoyable in their own way, particularly since we're now getting half-hour weekly episodes featuring them, and I'm sure the live action series will be interesting in terms of helping fill in some more of the "gaps" in the Star Wars timeline but the producers/writers can't make any fundamental changes in the characters/storyline in either series because the outcome is already known and set in stone based on the movies already produced.

Frankly, I'd just rather see good adaptations of some of the post-ROTJ stories. ROTJ was a nice "cap" to the six-part series but there's so much more story to be told. I've heard that the X-Wing series was pretty good and the Thrawn Trilogy, already widely regarded as Episodes 7-9, if done correctly, would be awesome to watch even if relegated to the small screen.

Of course, whether it's likely to happen or not remains in doubt although I'd bet that if enough people demand it and/or Lucas needs more ways to "milk" the franchise he may yet consider it. Maybe. Who knows? Just posting my thoughts.

I thought Episode 5 took place 6-8 months after Episode 4
All of the Star Wars timelines that I've ever seen put the gap between Episodes 4 & 5 as 2-3 years. When I was a kid I always thought they were closer together myself.

Ok, so when exactly does the Star Wars books 'Alliance' take place? It is after Episode 4 and before Episode 5, but how far apart?

I've never read it (heard of it- by Zahn right?) so I'm not sure.

Edit: Oh, wait a minute, don't you mean "ALLEGIANCE" by Timothy Zahn- something about Stormtroopers?
