Hi clever TOS people. I hope you can help me. As part of an essay I'm writing, I want to refer to the first instance of Mindmeld in Trek. Can someone tell me which ep that was, pretty please?

Yes it is. Spock melded for the first time with a human, and that person was Dr. Simon Van Gelder.

It's interesting to see how the two-handed meld, with the constant repositioning if the fingers, was streamlined into the familiar single hand pressed into the cheek and forehead we've grown used to.

You realize, of course, as seen in "The Enterprise Incident", that : fingers are for Vulcans the same as ears for Ferengi's...
