Chuck Taylor Wedding!

I'm not so specific in my shoe shopping as you are. Nike or Adidas to me mean the basic sports type of shoe, regardless of tennis shoe, trainer, etc. Converse has a distinct style of shoe (at least in my mind's eye) so that the brand name conjures up a specific type of image.

Yeah, but I mean, Chucks have been around for decades!

As 005 said, people probably know them better as Converse All-Stars now. I haven't heard the nickname Chucks in quite some time!

Maybe it's a regional thing? I've never heard anyone refer to them as All-Stars.
The shoes have been around for decades, but I knew them as "Converse All-Stars" in the 60s and 70s and that's the only name for them I remember; if the Chuck Taylor signature was even on the shoes back then, it sure never registered for me. I'd never heard them called "Chuck Taylors" or "Chucks" until I saw someone (possibly doubleoh) call them that on this board and had no idea who Chuck Taylor might have been until I looked him up, so I'm thinking it must be a more recent (late 80s? 90s?) nickname for the shoes.

Cool idea for a wedding. I love Chucks, but you can't find them in retail stores for anything over size 12. I'm size 13 and have to order them special, which jacks the price up an extra $20.

^Be less old. :p

Maybe it's a regional thing. Through the '80s and '90s in both LA and Phoenix, I never heard them referred to as anything other than All-Stars. And I'm not that old.

We called them Cons here in Ohio. It was only in the past 5 years or so, that I started calling them Chuck Taylors.
