Christmas Shopping

Shopping is finished. Shipping was done last week. We still have a few things to wrap but that is it.

My main shopping is done...I still have gifts to buy for friends but since I won't be seeing these particular friends for a while I have put it off. My family is all done and I'll be getting my best friend his gift on Tuesday when Something, Something, Something Dark Side Guy comes out. I don't have a lot of cash since I'm on disability so Christmas shopping can be stressful for me, a mixture of creativeness and budget crunching!

I traditionally do all my shopping on Christmas Eve.

You'd be amazed how much shopping you can do at a 24-hour Walgreens.

I haven't started yet. Just too busy. I'm only going to shop for one person though - and am reasonably sure of what to buy - which makes things somewhat easier!

Same here. Over the last few years (as the younger kids have started getting jobs and understanding that illusive concept known as money), my family has started doing Secret Santa. It saves a lot of hassle.

I have a very big family (seriously, I grew up with nine other people on the same property), so we have taken to Secret Santa in recent years since the youngest of the grandchildren is now 16. Except rather than being an actual secret, we just assign pairs to exchange gifts based on closeness in age and interests. I always get the 16 year old, who is a girl, but rather than enjoying fantasy/sci-fi like her dear cousin, is into fashion and... um, being a popular cheerleader. I do the best I can for her. (We are actually very close and much like sisters, so I speak in jest.)

I've done most of my shopping, but I have to get a few more things for my husband. Is it just me, or is filling a stocking for a man much harder than finding stocking stuffers for girls? For girls, you can always get little makeup or jewelry items...

So how's your Christmas/Holiday shopping going?

It's not Christmas shopping unless it's done on Christmas Eve, fighting off the masses for the last item on the shelves.

(I've done nothing yet)

So. I caved in and bought what I needed today instead of waiting until Christmas Eve.

Oh well, I figured I was in town anyway for some on-call work, so I may as well do the shopping.

I tried to do my shopping today but the mall closed early (before I even got there) due to the snowstorm.

Finished my shopping last week and wrapped them up Thursday night. Normally I have it all done by November but this year brought more pressies then ever before and started a bit later than normal.

I only need to buy a couple of things. The plan was to take care of it this weekend but the blizzard went and screwed up my plans. Perhaps Monday evening, after work, or on Tuesday.

I'm a little concerned that Amazon hasn't shipped two of my items yet. The estimate says they'll deliver before Christmas but I'm worried that they might not show up. They'd better hurry up and ship them!

I really thought I was in control and now, due to snow and the magical way that the two weeks prior to Christmas just disappear, I am behind, quite badly behind and working now until the day.
Oh heck it's only a day... I'm sure Spag Bol will be ok for Christmas dinner... I'll just get extra crackers and more wine:) Good plan :techman:

I only have to buy for my son, age 14. All of this year's purchases were online with only a few items remaining to arrive. I had to skip last year (birthday and Christmas) due to lack of funds. I reminded him of that a few days ago, with his response being, "Really? Wow, I don't remember that, but OK." I'm hoping the trip to Britain in Summer 2010 more than makes up for it.

I managed to finish up last week, which is the earliest I've done in a while.

I let my daughter open some of her stuff today as I won't see her on Christmas and I don't want to upset the boys on Christmas Eve with her opening gifts in front of them, it's a bit of an unfair tease. I seem t have done well so far with her stuff :)

..and my collection of gifts for my GF only needs one piece of the puzzle to be complete.

Other than that - my mums has't arrived yet and my sister is away so I'm being cheap and getting something in the sales for her return to Scotland.

I thought I had gotten everything yesterday, but then I realized I ought to pick up something for my father. He isn't Christian anymore, but what the heck. I'll probably get something this evening.

What the hell does one buy an 85-year old woman for Christmas? This was much easier when I was a little kid and could just make my grandma some sort of craft. :p
