This is what interested me:

Minor Spoilers

"And I've met Mr. Nimoy a couple of times. He's been on set and we have a couple of scenes in the film, which will be nice, and I'm excited for those."

Discuss.

So the movie should have been called,
"Star Trek: Spock Travels Through Time." That's what it should have been called.

Interesting.

Poor bastard, he goes out of his way to say nothing, and yet every word out of his mouth is analysed to the nth degree.

Looks like it may be time travel. Cant think what else it could be.

So it's pretty definite there's some time travel here.
Roberto Orci was a little more forthcoming with information, saying that the time travel in the movie would not be contain elements of time travel such as seen in The City on the Edge of Forever. "It's original," said Orci. "There's a lot of speculation lately about the fact that well we're going to completely throw everything out the window. I can't comment specifically on that, but I can say, if you know your Trek, and you know your canon, your knowledge will be rewarded and if you don't know Trek and you don't know sci-fi, it's not going to matter."

There will be time travel according to one of the writers. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've come up with.

Here's an idea: no time travel, but Pine has a couple of scenes with Nimoy as "old Kirk," wearing heavy age makeup.

It would be interesting seeing Shatner's reaction to that. :)

I think Pine was implying that he and Nimoy have a couple of scenes together, not that Nimoy only has a couple of scenes. At least that's the impression I get?

Well, not sure if you mean that toward me or what not. And it wasn't my intention to do so. However, it was just that part that got to me as there is some significance to it plot wise, not necessarily that Pine and Nimoy have a scene together.. but the fact that older Spock has a scene with young Kirk (assuming I read that right,) which opens the doors for alot of outcomes or whatever is going on plot or even timeline wise (not trying to read too much into of course and not that I will have a problem either way), and can confirm time travel, again, if what he says is correct if taken at face value.

Perhaps Old Spock melds with Young Spock - and interacts with Young Kirk in the shared Vulcan consciousness?

We saw Janeway interact with Sulu and Rand this way, via Tuvok, in "Flashback" (VOY).

please please please please please please please please no Borg Chronoton NanoChip!™

Perhaps the scene with old Spock and young Kirk involves young Spock introducing him as his older cousin, Selek?

No, wasnt aimed at you. I just meant it generally.

Every single word that Pine, Quinto Abrams et all is instantly dissected by the internet.

I just find it amusing.

I agree with you Devon. That was my impression also.

Young Spock: Lieutenant Kirk, this is my cousin Selek.

Selek (Old Spock): Pleased to meet you Mr. Kirk...(ominoulsy) Stay away from Viridian III.

Kirk (shaking Seleks' hand): I'm sorry -- I didn't catch that...Meridian what?

Sounds like time travel to me, but for all we know it could be a flashback/dream sequence of some kind where they aren't occupying the same space and time in "real life". This isn't a 100% confirmation of anything just yet.

Time travel maybe acceptable as long it's done properly.

Let's just hope it's the couple of scenes with Nimoy are not on the holodeck.

Or we barely see Pine on screen. it could just as easily read the other way.

I suspect, however, they just don't encounter each other much. Would a time travelling older-Spock be that desperate to seek out and have long conversations with a century-younger version of his friend? given the potential timeline cock-ups inherent in doing so, I suspect not.

LOL!

IF old Spock (or is his name now officially "Old Spock") does go back in time, I'd think he'd find the chance to meet young Kirk even more irresistible than Sisko found it.

That said, I'd bet they advance the plot in some way, too.

(And, while he's warning Kirk about the Nexus, he should be selfish enough to tell Kirk not leave him in a torpedo tube on the Genesis planet, either.)
