Chris Pine appreciation thread

Not that Spock would never have had the stones to do it, but I think shoving Jim out the airlock shows he was already emotionally compromised as defined under Starfleet Regulation 619. It adds evidence to the claim where older Spock said he was emotionally compromised and that Jim should relieve him.

I agree, Jeri. Unless he thought the brig wouldn't hold Kirk, which is ludicrous, there's no reason to eject him off the ship. Jeez, he would have died on Delta Vega if not for Spock Prime.

Oh, no; he wouldn't have died. They put the probe down only 14 kilometers from the Starfleet outpost, and the outpost personnel were liable to retrieve him.

If Scotty ever took his feet off his desk, uncovered his eyes, woke up and looked at the monitor to see any alerts, that is.

I am referring to the creature (forget what it is called) that chased him into the cave and had him by the ankle. If Spock Prime had not scared it away, Kirk would have been dinner. I don't know how he would have gotten away otherwise. It didn't look like he had a phaser on him or he would have used it at that time.

That's what I'm talking about, too. The deal with that was that the escape-pod computer told him the planet wasn't safe and to stay in the pod and wait for station personnel to retrieve him. So that was his own fault. He just doesn't listen to anybody; he's hard headed. But it usually works for him; and that's how he met Ambassador Spock...

Here are some screen caps from the first scene of "Carriers." It's not from a DVD; it's from a QuickTime movie, so the quality isn't the best -- and I don't have the control that I have with the DVD player. I apologize about that. Chris still looks great.

This is kinda funny; it's old (June), but came up again. (And we didn't have a thread at that point.) Chris gets a "0" rating in this video, "How Gay is CHRIS PINE?! What does the Gaydar Gun say?", where "Terry Ray gives CHRIS PINE (way fab as Captain Kirk in STAR TREK) a zap with the Gaydar Gun!" Terry complains that Chris identified Andrew Lloyd Weber as possibly a PBS show, which is a fatal mistake to Terry.

If you didn't see it in other threads, here's a link to an L.A. Times article, describing where Paramount has put "Star Trek" in the Oscar running:

Screeners update: Campaign DVDs shipped to Oscar voters
November 29, 2009 | 10:32 am

Oscar voters received lots of DVD screeners prior to the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. The breakdown below represents only the screeners sent to the full academy. Others are sent just to specific branches — such as "Trucker" DVDs shipped to actors.

Paramount will ship its top three contenders ("Up in the Air," "Star Trek," "The Lovely Bones") to voters on Dec. 8. Meantime, the studio sent "Star Trek" DVDs to all of the guilds (except DGA, which doesn't permit screener shipments) and journalists last week.

If anyone is interested in seeing some filming of Unstoppable there are some videos on Youtube if you search for AWVR. I haven't seen a videos yet of Chris - looks like they are mainly of the trains, helicopters, etc. Still, it's fascinating to watch some of the action.

Me, too, Tom. It would be great if this picture was from Small Town Saturday Night. Whatever it's from, I love those arms and that tan.

I like that one, too; boots and jeans are yummy. That first one in the bazaar is a new one for me; thanks, Pam.

There are "Carriers" gifs at ontd:

Surfaced again a couple of places: an undated Men's Health article interviewing and about Chris, which is accompanied by an old picture.

Actor Chris Pine's Tips for Success
Boldly Go!
Photographs by: Art Streiber

Star Trek's Chris Pine was looking for a challenge. Then two of them arrived. Making the decision helped him clarify his goals -- and changed his career

You've been great in ungreat things. Your career has had few opportunities. And then you're offered two big jobs. Two different jobs. One is suited to your talents and ambitions; it is your vision of yourself. The other will make you gobs of money.

How can a man choose between self-satisfaction and well-being? Between two different versions of success? Two jobs, two women, two investments: It's always like this. The two elements you most desire, split down different paths... (cont.)
