Children

Space Cowboy

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
With a trip that was supposed to take around 70 years, wouldn't you think that there'd be more coupling on the ship? It'd make sense to have children who could grow up and join the crew as the original crew aged. How was it that Miral Paris was apparently the only child conceived on the trip home?

Well, there's this one episode from the first season titled 33 where they do say that a baby is born. You see, they did take into account that those people were on a very long journey.

Oops, that was another series, wasn't it? Nevermind.

:D

Why settle, when you can select...holodeck!!

Yeah, I see what you're saying though. They needed replacements, but no one was having them.

It's a good question, because much the crew looked to be in that "falling in love and getting knocked up" stage of their lives. I wonder how many relationships were formed which didn't withstand the return home once the gene pool choices were restored to a whole race of people. Another case to be made for more drama after Endgame, dang it!

But worse, what if a crewman knocked up an alien they were in love with? Talk about a tough choice!

I catch myself still believing that Paris and Belana are married because of the one episode (oblivian I think) where they did, but it was their copies that got married and eventually died off. So I'm sitting here asking when they'll get pregnant.

Someone above said they eventually do, when does that happen? I'm part way through season 6 right now.

In the episode Lineage, season 7 episode 12.

I'm assuming they did pair off, according to the conversation Tom had with Harry early on, urging that they'd better hurry up before all the women on the ship were taken.

Didn't Janeway once talk to Chakotay or someone about the potential of the crew having kids that end up as replacements? She wasn't saying it needed to be mandated or anything, but was just stating what would probably end up happening.

From the lost cut scene of "The Caretaker":

Janeway (looking at Paris and B'leanna): "We're going to have to start making babies."
Chakotay: Is that an order?
Janeway: It might have to be.

There's a reason they should have included more on this topic, they get to have the intrigue of people pairing off and having children. There's a reason they shouldn't have done more on this topic, they get to have the intrigue of people pairing off and having children. :P

They always talked about what's her name as being the first child born on Voyager - one would assume there were more after 'the first'.
