Chick-fil-A digging themselves a hole

National Chik-fil-A Day! August 1st!! Let your belief's take a bite!

http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=AP&date=20120726&id=15381183

mmmmmm nuggets and waffle fries.....

Fine. Eat all you want. The rest of us will give our money to pro gay rights organizations. Your kind is dying off. Maybe the Chik-fil-a will help you die off sooner.

Not to worry. To counter such examples of ignorance as the one you've just quoted, there's this:

I think it's brilliant, myself.

Excellent video.

Chick-fil-a has shown itself to be an utterly hideous company and considering the growing acceptance of homosexuality they would do well to make a public apology and donate money to a gay rights group.

I kind of doubt that. Ironically, some day most gays will probably be born to conservative Catholics, Southern Baptists and other more fundamentalist Christian groups.

Once somebody develops a prenatal screening test, lots of demographics will choose to abort, even though everyone will claim they'd be thrilled to have a gay baby. Overall numbers will decline until a generation or two later when people like Sarah Palin are the only ones still having gay babies, with virtually none at all born in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. Then liberals will notice all the gays seem to be conservative Baptist Republicans and decide they're all evil, and gays will be a persecuted minority concentrated only in Texas, the Deep South, and Alaska.

It shouldn't take a science-fiction writer to project how it will unfold.

It's one thing if a restaurant or other chain's owners/CEO's decide to endorse a certain political ideology or stance. It's another thing when the head of that company comes out and says how actively he's against a certain ideology or group of people. And that profits made through the business go to support groups actively trying to curtail the rights of others.

There's a local restaurant to me that makes some of the best BBQ in the city, in fact it won a local contest proclaiming it as the best restaurant chain in the city. Like CFA it's closed on Sundays most likely due to religious reasons. But I've never heard of the owner expressing negative views towards a group of people or donating money to support movements against people. So I'll eat there.

But when I heard how vocal and actively CFA spoke out against homosexuals and homosexual rights I decided to stop eating there. I can't support such ways of thinking.

It'd be one thing if this CEO/owner simply spoke his personal views but he's spoken these views not as himself but in an "official capacity" as operator of the company and the company makes donation to groups wanting to curb the freedoms of homosexuals. Sorry, that's something very different than expressing views.

And, really, I think the ACLU or other groups should investigate the hiring practices of Chick-Fil-A to see if they discriminate against homosexuals or even non-Christians.

The family owned pizza place by me is closed on Sunday, more likely due to poor business on Sundays.

But yeah, either way, if they aren't making a stink out of why they're closed that day, it's not a big deal.

I don't know if Popeye's makes a sandwich or not, but they have the best chicken 'round here, and they're open every day.

Thumbs up for Chick-fil-A, glad a company is still willing to stand its ground. Very hard thing to do in this day and age with such pressure on them to follow worldly morals. Why shouldn't Chick-Fil-Al be able to have their own opinion, sounds like persecution to me to ban them from a city because of their views. Not surprised mind you, but kudos to Chick-Fil-A, more people need to stand their ground on their beliefs and not be afraid of the consequences. They will continue to get my money and support.

Is this sarcastic? Am I missing something?

Not sarcastic, you aren't missing anything, you are simply trying to discredit my opinion, but you won't succeed.

I know I have the un-popular view in this thread, I understand the tone of posts and replies about to follow based on my remarks.

So you've chosen to be a dick. Good for you. Go eat your chicken.

I've chosen to state my opinion, which is what everyone else has done in this thread. I have not made any personal remarks, nor made fun of anyone, nor called anyone names, which apparently you have chosen to do.

Kudos to Chick-Fil-A, I support their statements and will continue to support them as a company. Plus, their food is good.

I understand what you're saying about respecting someone for standing up for their beliefs, but I can't respect that on its own. Their beliefs here are what leads them to fund groups that actively try to curtail the rights of an entire group of people. There's nothing admirable about that.

There's something to be said for standing strong in the face of opposition, but I find it much more admirable when someone can be open-minded and flexible enough to look outside of their own rigid belief structure.

Support them all the fuck you want. Give them money to fund bigoted anti-gay groups. Be proud that they're openly bigoted, that they openly choose to engage in activities that work to deny same sex couples their rights. Stand on the wrong side of history, and bask in it's flavor.

Name calling. Fuck name calling. If all you give a shit about is name calling, then you have no idea what the fuck is going on in the first place.

Thank you for the respectable response, I appreciate it when respect is given both ways.

Naturally, it all boils down to the belief system. Chick-Fil-A may not be perfect, no company or individual is, but they've chosen to follow Christians morals as laid out by the Bible. This is also the belief I have chosen as well. I am happy when I see Christians stand their ground on Gods word and follow the Bible on what Jesus tells us is right and wrong. A lot of time, Christians will keep quiet, and especially in the corporate world this is mostly so because they know a big stink will be made about it and they will lose favor with the secular world. I'm happy to see one company who is standing for what's right, and not afraid of the consequences. It is a lesson to all Christians that in this day and age it is important we stand for what's right according to Gods word.

I know this will not be a popular opinion on this forum, but there are Christians out there reading this who know what I mean.

I don't need to discredit your opinion, thankfully, and the fact that you're trying to make yourself look like a victim is amusing. The success of the LGBT movement can already be seen and its successes will be many in the future no matter how many people like you or chick-fil-a try to stop it. Sadly, such homophobic behavior does increase an atmosphere of hate which leads to the suicides of LGBT teens every day.

And I was wrong to even call what you have an "opinion." It's not. It's an outdated, bigoted point of view that has not even the smallest relationship to reality. The hatred towards homosexuals is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself for adding to it when we've seen the affects that anti-gay bigotry can cause.

Acting like you're "taking a stand" is laughable. You have a point of view that targets others simply because they love someone who you disapprove of. That's horrible and you should not see yourself as taking a stand when people speak out against you and places like chick-fil-a; you should see yourself as someone who is being told that their viewpoints are offensive and detrimental to the community.

I'm curious. With teen LGBTs killing themselves, with teen LSBTs finding themselves being bullied because of their gender, where exactly do you think this problem comes from? Allow me to fill you in. It comes from an atmosphere created by people like chick-fil-a and created by people like yourself.

Don't even dare to make your side try to appear as if you're victims. It is the attitude of homophobia that CREATES victims. This is why chick-fil-a should be boycotted and why you should seriously rethink your "values."
