Charlie's Angels: Season Discussion Thread

The new "Charlie's Angels" series begins tonight, I've got it set to DVR and will likely check it out sooner or later in the next couple of days.

Are others planning on checking this out? If so, let's discuss the Pilot and the rest of the season here!

I really don't think it wil be as good as the original show with Farrah.

Personally, though I love Farah, I'm a Cheryl Ladd fan. The woman was perfect. I caught an ep a few weeks ago on the Cloo (formerly Sleuth) channel with young Cheryl in a bikini, and, well, I didn't have to do my cardio exercises that day.

For anyone interested they do have the entire first season of the original on Hulu. I've never watched it before, so I plan on checking it out eventually.

After watching the orginal when it first hit the tv all those years back and became an avid watcher (eternally on heat for the girls!) I don't I can be bothered to watch a remake when it eventually comes our way (That's if it does).

Watched bits of it, you knew when Angel Gloria got in that Cuda/Challenger it was going to explode. (as a car nut I hope that was a rust bucket, it would be a shame to destroy a classic).

Interesting to see Tony Almeida as the bad guy.
The updated theme song sucks the big one.
and I don't see it making it making Christmas.

The dialogue was stilted and awkward and painful, and not improved by the clumsy post-production voiceovers. The direction was as inept and amateurish as an Asylum movie. The soundtrack was like being poked in the eye with a sharp stick...

So, pretty much just like the original, eh? :)
Not exactly. The original was simplistic and straightforward, like a contemporary version of a black-and-white B-movie mystery that would play on the late show, but it was still stylish and completely professional. This new one was painfully amateurish.

The ultimate Charlie's Angels story is still "Angels In Paradise." It would be hard to top that one.

Is that the one where France Nuyen makes her entrance walking out of the surf in a bikini? That was a good one, as I recall it.

I always preferred Ladd to Fawcett. Ladd was plucky and seemed to have more of a sense of humor. I've watched a few of the old ones recently on the "Universal HD" channel. They're good for a laugh and for spotting guest players, not much more than that. They're better than the T.J. Hooker re-runs that are on before, though. Those are pretty painful.

Watched it.

Eh.

It's... okay. But the blonde actress isn't working for me on doing her role, the other two seem fine. Don't like Bosley being a handsome, cut, guy who's a part of the operations.

They could've reused the theme better though, similar to how Hawaii 5-0 did theirs.

I'll probably check it out again next week to see if this episode was just an example of "pilot jitters" in trying to set things up. But a lot of the acting in it just struck me as dry.

Re: Charlie's Angles: Season Discussion Thread

I get my action fix from action movies, and my babe fix from... uh, other movies. In order to interest me, then, this show would have to provide something unique.

In other words: Angels meeting cute with, flirting with, and falling in love with other hot chicks, or no sale. ;)

Yeah, it was the second season two-hour premiere. It introduced Cheryl Ladd, took place in Hawaii, had a lot of great scenery, including undressed Angels, and had a good story that involved Charlie directly-- including a great scene where he escaped from his kidnappers. I think it was the only scene in the whole series that gave any evidence that he deserved his reputation.

I haven't and I intend not too. The number one reason for that is that they did some re characterizing with the girls being criminals or just plain rotten people rather than, like the original they were all police officers. Although I think that formula works well on LEVERAGE.

It was pretty pointless, though, because in the pilot they were already completely reformed.
