Character Ratings: Lwaxana Troi

6

Manhunt, Half a Life, and Dark Page were all excellent episodes, with the latter 2 showing a serious side to Mrs. Troi. When she was just goofing off, she got a bit annoying.

4.

I'm afraid I just never really took to the character.
Although, I thought Half a Life was an excellent episode, easily her best. :)

2.

annoying, banal character who never evolved or even fulfilled her main, comic relief, role very well. One of the worst characters TNG came up with.

6.

Although she's certainly not one of my all-time favorite Trek characters, I thought Majel Barrett Roddenberry played her very well. I did like her in the TNG episode Half A Life, and I also thought she was wonderful with Rene Auberjonois in DS9's The Forsaken.

She gets a 1 from me. I can't think of a single more annoying character in all of Trek. And that includes Neelix.

7.

I thought she was a cool character, excellently played by Majel Barrett. They did write some HORRIBLE episodes around her like, "Manhunt" and "Fascination" but that was the writer's fault. The character itself was intriguing and delightful. Like Vash, Lwuxanna was a nice relief from the typical too-perfect 24th century character.

I generously gave her a 3. If she was shown only once, it wouldn't have been too bad. She was basically a one-gag character. Troi's annoying mom. We get it.
Manhunt was one of the worst hours in the history of Star Trek. TNG's Spock's Brain. What a plot synopsis: Lwaxana Troi is horny.
She did, however, earn some points with Dark Page and Half a Life, which did show some better character development with her. Ironically, I don't think those very good episodes would have worked unless they had already established her as a comedic character.

To me, she seemed too forced. It was like every year, they had to do their requisite Lwaxana episode, along with their requisite Q episode.

when i first saw the episodes i couldnt stand her.
toward the end of the series i did like some of her appearances.

On my personal scale: a -5. But for lack of that option, I had to pick 1.

She had a few good moments in "Half a life" and "Dark Page," but two good episodes does not a useful character make, and she failed miserable at being comic relief. I have to share Mallory's thoughts that there isn't a single other character who grates my nerves quite like her.

I gave her 6. She was redeemed considerably for me in Half a Life. I wish she could have been this character more often than she was her usual self.

7. When she was serious, she was good. When she was there for comic relief, it was hit or miss, more often miss than hit.
