Chapel had her moments. Very few of them, but she had them:
I'll also note that the person who put together this video of "the cumulative 4 minutes they let Christine Chapel have a personality" specifically calls out in their description that "she has so much sass" so it's not like that's coming out of nowhere.
Shame about the nintendo eshop music(?) they put over the clips, though.
Truth be told I'd rather have all-new characters, and a new ship in the future of the franchise rather than the past. .That’s true. I would rather they just made a new character.

She joined the crew of the Enterprise in 2266..
Don't you know, the first time we see a character is their first day on the ship. It's a rule or something.Where do we learn that?

The scene that launched thousand whines.Of course! Always has been the rule, always will be.
Which is why Khan and Chekov knowing/recognizing one another in WOK…makes sense?
They'll probably correct as they did with Tuvok and Spock, And don't get me started of Lt. Chief O'Brien.I am guessing that they have simply been making mistakes with rank. Lets HOPE they are secretly reading this stuff and can fix these things in post. Of course these things are the MOST important details, but they know we Trek fans love the idea of a consistent universe. In the end, with Memory Alpha so easily available, and therefore an easy win.

sorry. typo. forgot the word "not"The most important details, huh?
Well, I guess this series is finished before it starts.
She likes it?And they make her a nurse?
Her intro episode is "Naked Time" and she's just a nurse there. Pretty sure the character in WALGMO wasn't intended to be Chapel at first. Was probably going to be the one off crewperson of the week. It's the type of part that says "guest star" rather than" reoccurring"Is it a stupid question to ask why she is a nurse in Starfleet at this age? Her intro episode years later established that she was a biologist who studied under the Louise Pasteur of archaeological medicine, so presumably trained in exo-archaeology, paleo-biology, and retro-fitting alien technology. Korby himself refers to her as a scientist. And they make her a nurse?

She only became a nurse to get a posting on a ship to get to Korby, the implication being that she took a downgrade. This also implies that she wasn't Starfleet before that posting (supported by the fact that they expected her to leave the ship after finding Korby and that Roddenberry believed her to be an acting ensign like Wesley Crusher, by virtue of her qualifications rather than Starfleet training). Since Korby was only missing for 2 years, he is not yet lost in this time period so I can't think of any reason why she would be a nurse instead of a biologist.
Now, admittedly, she talks about being his student, which implies that she could have done other stuff after studying under him, and that would also explain why she was not part of his expedition. She could have worked as a nurse in Starfleet and then left to do private research before re-joining to find Korby. Seems rather convoluted given how much time we have.
TOS Chapel was under-used. A researcher who was never asked to do research. She did get to do some robotics work with Scotty in Return to Tomorrow but that was pretty much it. I will be happy to see them portray her as more qualified and more talented than we saw with TOS but making her a nurse again feels like a millstone around her neck, making her a support act to a doctor character Give the poor woman her proper qualifications!
What I am more intrigued by is the possibility that recruiting actors for the classic TOS characters could lead to a series featuring a second 5 year mission with the Enterprise refit. I would defo be up for that in a few years time.
Which is sadly still standard today among non medical professionals.“Just a nurse” really undervalues what nurses do, and the skills it takes to be one.
