[Admiral Shran]

(Jellico notices Riker's trombone.)

JELLICO: Musician.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Yes.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: Classical? Contemporary?

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Jazz.

No, this conversation isn't awkward. Why on Earth would you think that?

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: Ah.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Is there something I can do for you, Captain?

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: Are you aware of our plans to attack the Cardassian invasion fleet?

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Yes, Sir. I understand you've been talking to every Shuttle Pilot on board.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: Let's drop the ranks for a moment. I don't like you. I think you're insubordinate, arrogant. wilful, and I don't think you're a particularly good first officer. But you are also the best pilot on the ship.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Wel, now that the ranks are dropped, Captain, I don't like you either. You are arrogant and closed minded. You need to control everything and everyone. You don't provide an atmosphere of trust, and you don't inspire these people to go out of their way for you. You've got everyone wound up so tight, there' no joy in anything. I don't think you're a particularly good Captain.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: I won't order you to fly this mission.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker Grins

Riker: Then ask me.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JELLICO: Will you pilot the shuttle, Commander?

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Yes.

Jellico turns to leave.

Riker: You're welcome.

Jellico fumes and leaves the room.

Later, the Shuttlecraft enters the nebula, even though like the shuttle in part 1 it has mismatched interiors and exteriors.

 

[Admiral Shran]

[Shuttlecraft]

LAFORGE: We've lost primary navigation. Switching to secondary systems.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Inertial Dampers Compensating.

 

[Admiral Shran]

LAFORGE: Sensors inoperative.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Right on schedule.

 

[Admiral Shran]

LAFORGE: The proximity detector is working. We should be able to read their ships at a distance of five hundred metres.

 

[LeadHead]

Riker: Don't make this too easy.

La Forge heads to the rear of the shuttle and looks over the mines. The proximity detector shows something close and begins to beep.

Riker: Hang on!

The shuttle moves out of the way
