CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Yeah, I could see them saying that Axanar is the real story of the war with the Klingons, and that Discovery isn't canon.

Interesting enough another fandom is going through a similar canon debate. Stargate just launched a prequel web series Stargate Origins. In the first 2 episodes that invalided the whole premise of the movie and show unless they do some amnesia thing at the end (which I guess they will). I'm not normally a "the canon" guy but theirs was a pretty big one.

Supposedly it's supposed to be canon, so either that was a lie to begin with (or they never did their research properly...) or there will indeed be some kind of mind-wipe thing.

I'm sure it will be some kind of reset switch/mind-wipe/etc. Just seems a bit cheap of a plot device to me.

I'm a big Stargate fan, and I've actually been wondering about how Origins was going to fit into the canon.

I'm going to wait till all of them come out before judging. After the first 3 I'm not so sure but I'll wait and see what they do. I loved all the Star gates and do hope they helps get a new series made but I'm sure it would be streaming only which would upset people...again.

So our neighbors in the Stargate aisle are experiencing their own ... issues? I take it the SW fandom will soon, as I think I recall reading/hearing somewhere that they'll get on their own streaming service, too.

It's almost like, you know, like your oil and electric and gas bills, that different providers mean - gasp! - different bills!

SW fans will be crying "canon" when the Han Solo film comes out.

Well lfim is claiming he has a locked script. Hold on to your wallet.
Of COURSE he has, 'onest, guv!

I'm finally catching up on Discovery. Reconciling with TOS, hmmm. Wanting to see where the story is going if you say this is Trek from eight to ten parallel universes over, maybe!

11 episodes down, four to watch. At least there are episodes to discuss/debate/criticize, unlike Axanar.

Yeah that was the claim they made to the court that a locked script really wasn't a locked script because they were still working on it and the new version of the locked script might not violate copyright.

One things for certain: he'll need another million dollars (minimum) to make the new script. Paper is expensive.
