CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

The wrong building, huh? Pah-lease do an in-depth story on those sources who fed you that misinformation. :)
Carlos already did an in-depth, his story was incorrect, he found out about it and corrected the story. Meanwhile Alec had guidelines imposed on the fan studios which Alec claims his actions had nothing to do with it, it would have happened anyway according to him and we are all haters. Alec collected a sizeable amount of money and sub contracted production work to professionals, a huge No no in fan films. Alec claimed to spend $130,000 on that 22 minute film and put that film up against real fan made films in a lot of contests and then had the nerve to claim Victory over all the hapless fan film clubs who use their own blood and sweat to create a product. Alec went on to fund raise another $1.3 million dollars and claims the money was spent without producing the Awesome Star Trek film he promised his donors but that's not his fault either.
I already see a huge in-depth difference!

Carlos once again shows who is the real class act. Able to admit when he's got it wrong. Except, as you say Carlos, you didn't really get it wrong, you just got caught up in some petty point scoring by Alec. As I said in a previous post, Alec's own actions tend to be more damning than anything you could ever publish.

And talking of which, reading the latest round of Carlos-bashing by Alec earlier was really quite disconcerting. He was sounding pretty paranoid, and we've now obviously got this pointless "sting" to factor in as well. The general nastiness in that thread was really worrisome as well, beyond what I recall reading previously (although admittedly at this point I've long since given up keeping a close eye on the Axanar fan groups). Alec's inability to tell the truth in favour of some imagined point scoring as well was firmly on show, taking potshots at Carlos' inability to finish his movie (I'd assume its the one you've shared trailers etc for Carlos, which looked pretty finished to me).

Again. Alec's own words. No need for unredacted court documents to realise all is not right.
I didn't see his claim I hadn't finished my movie. I wonder what all those hundreds of people around the world who've seen it so far were watching?

This.

Carlos, lock it down. Get all the facts together about the steps Axanar took to propagate a lie. If your sources are not confidential, perhaps quotes from them about what they were told and what they think about being explicitly lied to.
If I had proof that someone deliberately lied to me while asking for anonymity I would consider such a promise null and void. In other words, fuck 'em.

What thread? FB? Elsewhere?

Again. Alec's own words. No need for......
Anything else. Just him. Just his own words.

So, when you read the official production's website.....
"No, what sickened me on a visceral level was the immersive atmosphere of ire, vitriol, and hatred that permeated almost every comment posted. These unfortunate people are living in a toxic environment of overwhelming negativity where civil norms of respect for others (or any kind of basic pleasantry) seem to have been checked at the door before entering. ”

....just keep in mind the following Quotes. This is Alec himself speaking. These are his own words:
"Hey moron, I don't have to give you proof."

"You are an immature child. Grow the fuck up. You will be lucky to achieve a fraction of what i have."

"you are a stupid fuck who is lazy too."

"Grow up asshole."

"You are such a typical Internet weenie"

"you are just one more anonymous troll that doesn’t have any actual accomplishments to justify a valid opinion"

"I am a winner who makes my life and those around me better. You sit at home masturbating to pics of little boys."

"You are clearly a shill for the liar, Vic Mignogna"

"He's a pathological liar and a narcissist"

"blah blah blah ...............Go bother someone else who cares about your ill informed opinion"

"Such a great reply. Almost makes me think you are something either[sic] than a smart ass kid who needs to get laid"

"You are an immature child."

"Elvis impersonators who have a hobby and have always wanted to play Captain Kirk. "

"BTW you can tell him I am now going to hire a lawyer and sue him. I am making enough money now to throw away $50,000 on a law suit" (Interestingly, that's about the same amount that the first Axanar Kickstarter had just taken in.)

"…you are lucky you aren't dead."

"God, where do you people come off with this shit?"

"Nice and mature."

"forgive me if I find this nonsense laughable."

"Oh dude, grow up"

"Keep lying up a storm. axanar is better than you."

"That is total bullshit"

"I have asked my lawyers to file a Cease and Desist against Vic. And we will be filing a defamation lawsuit against him."

"if you want a fan film, then go see a fan film."

"he has such a hard on about axanar"

"You just know his life sucks because he feels the need to act like a jerk online. No decent person would act the way he does.

No decent person would act the way he does? Please refer to your own words in the above quotes. Decent?

So how do you deal with getting served a lawsuit by CBS? Celebrate with Sushi!

Celebrate.

It was pretty buried in the thread, so not surprised it was missed. The whole thing was just grim.

What thread? FB? Elsewhere?

In the Axanar Fan Group Alec had started a thread about Carlos being a stalker etc (obviously priming the faithful for the upcoming misinformation "victory").

A mass dillusion, dear Carlos. For you are a master manipulator, it would seem.

This has got to be a new, incredible low point for Team Axanar. Seriously. And some of them have gone plenty low. It's a touch more troubling that you're being framed as this massive villian - even expressing an opinion on anything Axanar I'm told straight off the bat "Don't listen to Carlos' lies."

....because obviously having my own opinion based on solid research for my own articles is completely spun by someone I've had a passing, barely worth mentioning connection to via a forum thread and the presumption that the only thing I know of Axanar must have come from you because it's not positive :/

It's downright creepy.

Am sure by now this is public knowledge, thought this would still be prudent to post

Then there's this little rant from Lord Windbag himself

I have published a correction on AxaMonitor regarding the story I published about Axanar’s new headquarters outside Atlanta.

In an interview published today on Fan Film Factor, Axanar CEO Alec Peters revealed the true location of Axanar’s new facility in Lawrenceville, Georgia, not the Gainesville location I reported on yesterday.

Did I get bamboozled? Yep, I sure did. Comeuppance has been served and I’m ready to eat crow.

That happens sometimes to journalists, and the first thing we’re taught is admit our error. So I’m admitting mine: I fell for a scheme in which these folks, who don’t like to have what they do made public, got together and coordinated an intricate plan to fool me.

And I was fooled, fed false information by sources controlled by Alec Peters.

I apologize to those who’ve come to rely on me as a source of coverage about the Axanar debacle — the crowdfunding that paid for a never-used studio instead of the film fans wanted made, the draconian guidelines now imposed on all fan productions, the supporters who gave tens, hundreds, even thousands of dollars in good faith to a group of people hoping for a really great fan film, getting nothing in return.

Oh, yeah. Some got a few little patches.

Now, Alec Peters — who takes no responsibility for his mismanagement of the money people entrusted to him — instead believes it’s worth his time to conspire to fool a reporter, to lie. Is that really a victory to be proud of?

But remember who else you lied to. You lied to everyone about the details of the warehouse upon which I relied upon for authentication about this story. To “get” me, you had to lie.

I’m sure some of Peters’ supporters are OK with that because they don’t like my coverage either. But if 300 supporters were all he was able to muster from the vaunted 15,000 at his command, I’m guessing a lot more aren’t OK with Peters continuing to publicly deceive them.

So who turns out looking worse in this situation? The reporter who was taken for a ride, or the people who lied to the whole world in order to do it? Yes, Alec Peters, you fooled me. “Big win for Axanar.” But all you proved is you’re willing to lie to score points in some imagined game, placing a higher priority on making a fool of a reporter instead of producing the film you promised your supporters years ago, just as you placed a higher priority on the tremendously expensive studio you just lost than on producing Axanar.

Which is why I’ll continue to cover this story until the day you stop trying to fool people for your own gratification. I’ll certainly be more careful about my sourcing in the future, now that I know the lengths to which you’ll go to hide the truth.

I apologize to my readers for letting them down, for getting caught up in yet another Axanar scheme. What I won’t apologize for is my intent to continue to cover this story. Axanar’s behavior trying to fool a reporter for some cheap laughs and finger-pointing just proves why it’s necessary to continue to shine a light on what they do.

The funny thing is that if Alec expects this to discredit Carlos, he's going to be sorely disappointed. The fact that Alec has been caught in the lie has proven that it will do nothing more than embed the "haters" in the "hater" camp and the "faithful" in the "faithful" camp. In fact, if the "faithful" see that Alec lied, it's more likely to backfire on him.

But who cares? Carlos got "pwned!"
If it was an intentional deception to stop Carlos (or us), it went horribly wrong, because it rather fueled intentions to warn the uninformed about the practices of Axanar Productions.
And for the intention of proving, Carlos is "biased" and "a liar" they should have concentrated on the core facts, i.e. the lawsuit documents and the included financial report. instead of the Kindergarten tactics with a warehouse location. Plenty of material!
If they had been able to tackle on those lawsuit facts (hell, even ONE fact) - and would have shown the world THERE, how wrong and biased Carlos is - then it would have been a BIG WIN FOR AXANAR!

Instead? Pathetic attempt and a shot in the foot - again!

If Alec Peters had a similar track record of offering the truth or owning his mistakes publicly in comparison to Carlos, we wouldn't even be having this conversation - or all those Axanar related sites (Pro and Anti). Just the Axanar main page! A happy family!

We recorded another show last night and legal stuff (including Axa) comes up at about 47 minutes in (Axa talk starts at about minute 51). Did not talk about the bait and switch on the Georgia addresses as it had more or less just come in when we were recording.

Rule #1 of PR: when you screw up, publicly own it and apologize. And a real apology, as in "I was wrong." versus "I'm sorry you feel that way," as the latter puts the burden on the person who was wronged. @carlosp has absolutely done the former. The apology is clear and succinct.

As for the actions that led to the bait and switch and surrounded it, all I gotta say is: you people have the nerve to say that we here don't have lives! Ha! I'm not busy playing cloak and dagger with reference to this nonsense.
You are.

1. Assert unknowable 'fact' of thousands of hours spent. Infer from this unknowable that it *must* be true that only a paid person would do this. Assert from this that CBS is behind it, because 'people are saying...' and 'who else would pay for it?'. Assert that *therefore*, the content of Axamonitor is attacks, not fact.

Attorney by training strikes again.

2. There are spies among us. We have stalkers.

Cult leader by training strikes again.

3. Indulge in 'fake news' to your loyal followers in order to support the narrative.

Extreme narcissist by nature strikes again.

Where's the money, Alec?

I'm surprised you're this hard on yourself. Hell, if you recall, Jonathan Lane had to redact and apologize for his comments here when he claimed in one of his Blogs:

It was actually CHEAPER for AXANAR PRODUCTIONS to BUILD a studio than to RENT one! (Link)

So yeah. Nice you continue to take the proverbial 'higher road' - but given ALL of Alec Peter's AND Johnathan Lane's continual and unrelenting LIES regarding Alec Peter's Axanar project IMO you have nothing to apologize for here.

I'm not a lawyer, don't even write about them for TV, however this sounds like an illegal Bait and Switch to me.

Your mention of Bait and Switch is very interesting…

I tried to email Axamonitor about this, but the email contact form on their website doesn’t seem to be working. I cannot see how to PM Carlos via this forum, which may be because I have a low post count, as I thought he may be interested in the email chain which I said I reserved the right to take third party advice on. I don’t often come into fandom, don’t have social media and am a somewhat private person.

But the email chain with Alec showed signs of delusions and an ostrich act in one.

(the YouTube you posted won't let me connect. Says it's private. 'Course I subscribe to 'Semantic Shenanigans' so I'm listening with iTunes)
