A 26-foot truck from U-Haul, for moving a four-bedroom apartment (the biggest thing I could find), from Valencia to Atlanta (starting on April 30) is: $3701

Keep in mind that the sets and whatnot might not all fit in what I selected, plus a fully loaded U-Haul gets crappy mph (according to
this site, it was about 8.2 miles per gallon for a 17-foot U-Haul, so this would be even less). And gasoline costs in California are very high. A southern route through Texas might yield better fuel prices and possibly lower cost motels if any overnight stays were needed. And they should be, as Google maps put the most direct route at about 2170 miles, following I-40 and I-10 and driving through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain), Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama before arriving in glorious Georgia.
In any event, it looks like one 26-foot U-Haul, just based on rental, tolls, and gasoline, will cost about $4000 plus motel rooms should be factored in. This is all on dirt-cheap economy. It is possible to get movers, and they could potentially cost less in some areas but U-Pack (I went with a 5-bedroom house as that was the biggest variable they had) topped out at $6960 and that was before adding packing/unpacking helpers who would add another $1000 or so to the costs (
