CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

These are the poll options

3. What do you think we should do with the money raised through this IndieGoGo campaign?
Since my donation was meant to cover the primary costs for Industry Studios, and those are now covered, I'd like my money back (or my pledge cancelled).
I'm more interested in seeing Axanar Productions produce AXANAR. Use the money raised to pack-up and put the sets in storage and then get to work on the two, fifteen minute films.
I trust you guys to do the best with the money I've pledged to you. Use it to find a new home for Axanar Productions, move the sets there and get back to work!
I don't care what you do as long as I get my perks.

It's sad for sure and the remaining fan films will be left to pick up the pieces. You could make a direct request and if that doesn't give you satisfaction, put your grievance into another forum.

Peters can bellyache and try and silence criticism and dissent all he wants. The fact remains, as evidenced by the court documents in the Axanar litigation, this was always a backdoor for a commercial enterprise. It was never just about making Axanar and giving donors what they paid for, even if Peters genuinely intended to make the Axanar film. Having gotten financially wiped out by the litigation he has gone on to mislead his supporters into thinking Axanar will be coming, deliberately as a way of swindling supporters out of more cash. But let's be honest here, Peters' primary intent now is to look after himself, and he doesn't care if fans are ripped off and not refunded. That's why he attacks dissenters like the arrogant child he is. But he is fighting a losing battle as the ship is sinking, if it hasn't already sunk, and much like the TrekUnited fellow who encouraged fans to give up loads of cash, he will never be trusted by Trek fans again. He, ultimately, is the author of his own misfortune.

Alec Peters is the perfect example of a bullshit artist who massively overrates his own abilities. But yet again his hubris and narcissism have driven a business into the ground, and the worst part is that the man doesn't care who suffers along the way. Awful, awful person and a very poor advertisement for Trek fans.
The worst part? He'll just pick another franchise and leech off of it until he has to burn that bridge as well.

Shipping the small amount of unfinished sets (is there more than the unfinished bridge?) to GA. is absurd cost wise; it would be more economical just to start over. By the time they break down the sets, pack and ship them, unload and reassemble them (in an unknown GA studio); it would be far more cost effective to buy some more plywood and 2 X 4's and start over. Besides, he is never going to film "Axanar" anyway, so who cares?
Last I heard was that Collectible Shipping Services take just a small fee. :D

About $21k raised, trending to $24k at the end of the campaign

A 26-foot truck from U-Haul, for moving a four-bedroom apartment (the biggest thing I could find), from Valencia to Atlanta (starting on April 30) is: $3701
https://www.uhaul.com/reservations/RatesTrucks.aspx

Keep in mind that the sets and whatnot might not all fit in what I selected, plus a fully loaded U-Haul gets crappy mph (according to this site, it was about 8.2 miles per gallon for a 17-foot U-Haul, so this would be even less). And gasoline costs in California are very high. A southern route through Texas might yield better fuel prices and possibly lower cost motels if any overnight stays were needed. And they should be, as Google maps put the most direct route at about 2170 miles, following I-40 and I-10 and driving through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain), Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama before arriving in glorious Georgia.

In any event, it looks like one 26-foot U-Haul, just based on rental, tolls, and gasoline, will cost about $4000 plus motel rooms should be factored in. This is all on dirt-cheap economy. It is possible to get movers, and they could potentially cost less in some areas but U-Pack (I went with a 5-bedroom house as that was the biggest variable they had) topped out at $6960 and that was before adding packing/unpacking helpers who would add another $1000 or so to the costs (http://www.upack.com/moving-quotes/quoteview.asp?id=5184171027&v=t).

But, would Alec go for cheap ol U-Haul? If you recall, when pressed to do a real world audit on Axanar's finances, he (or one of his surrogates, I can't recall) suggested Deloitte would be the only option. Even when a true independent CPA suggested he would be willing to look at the books for cost, to which one of the "haters" offered to cover when those costs were scoffed at. It never happened. Granted, that might just be deflection. But I sincerely doubt he'd go for U-Haul to move his precious sets to Atlanta.

As a side note... I've used U-Haul to move from Illinois to Tennessee before using their U-Boxes. I packed things up on the IL side but had movers unload in TN. Granted, there are many different companies that they work with, but it was a really good experience.

And Alec better stay out of Texas. He was way too close the last time he was down here.

Next time, I may harass.

It'll just be me.

On the side of the highway.

With a sign.

As he and Crysssstal drive by.

Very quickly.

But I'll be there!

Dammit.

:p

Oh @jespah you just put exactly 99.579% more effort into looking into the total costs of a move to Atlanta than Alec did.
He ain't moving nowhere. His sugar momma lives in L.A. and he isn't about to lower his prestige by moving cross country, AND cut himself off from a ready supply of play money.
As for the sets, they will be scrap by the middle of May, and Alec will pocket the cash, claiming that it was storage fees.

Interesting that it's 'Poll V2'.
(I wonder what version 1 looked like?)
V1 had options for:
* Keep the money for sushi
* Cryssssssssssstal needs a new pair of shoes
* Boomer needs tapdancing lessons
* Use the money for an alarm clock to wake AP up every 2 hours to watch Star Trek

Oh and yeah, definitely @Campe98 @Jedi_Master (et al - sorry if I missed anyone) - mainly just trying to get the info out there for anyone Googling. AP can afford to move, and even to move the sets. And I agree, those sets are scrap.

Did you notice it when:

A - The 2015 Kickstarter was more about the studio than Axanar
B - The 2015 IGG was more about the studio than Axanar
C - The lawsuit was justification for all funds to the studio instead of Axanar
D - The court filings showed it was more about the studio than Axanar
E - This last fundraiser was more about the studio than Axanar
F - notice what?
