CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

The man would make an amazing salesman. I'll give him that. Having worked in sales, I can see right through it. But it doesn't mean he wouldn't be amazing at it. As an independent producer, he just doesn't cut it as he has no accountability.

maybe... but did you ever have the sales people declare a big win on a sale and collect their bonuses and award themselves a congratulatory Caribbean trip, only for you to find they contracted you to deliver way more product capabilities/scale than what you have, in way less time than a crash effort would require? Accountability is important even for sales.

When the invites for his "Warhammer weekend" began circulating online I mentioned on here that reading them made me warm to him slightly as his enthusiasm and sheer earnestness about his interest in Warhammer I found endearing. It also helped me understand how so many people fell under the spell, it's infectious.

IMO really depends what responsibilities the person carries. Great enthusiasm for roller coasters is cool in a kid's uncle, but great additional enthusiasm for keeping a roof over a kid's head & all the rest is what's required from a parent.

I have always asked "what would Dr. McCoy do?" to draw out this comparison with Mr. Peters.

Wow, how long before the donor store contains bone marrow, a kidney, and vials of semen?
It appears LFIM is starting to hock items from his personal collection on the Donor Store...........

(with this desperation starting to set in, I wonder whether Reese will finally come up for air at some point.......)

I'm glad I got the Axanar coffee while it was still available. That's gonna be a true collector's item. Who would want to buy these sorts of yard-sale items?

'Misconceptions'
For the first time, O’Rourke drew a direct connection between the Axanar case and the new guidelines released in June 2015:
Seemed more like June 2016

There's probably cases of it in a basement somewhere awaiting the day it can be sold as such, with a Propworx COA. Probably go for a few hundred a pop if its doled out gradually. Of course, the value would be tainted if it came out that a bunch of additional "production made" copies of the labels were made on the side with the intent of selling them gradually... never seen *that* before...

Curious. I've always seen Paramount more of a licensee than a partner (I know, not entirely accurate but it makes sense of the senseless). This kind of works the same way. "Thats CBS's job. We just make movies."

On a sidenote, I've been officially blocked from both Axanar and Peters' twitter. Apparently it's fine for him to discredit journalists as bloggers, but not for me to ask about his credentials as a producer :(

He WAS amazing at it. You don't earn all that crowdfunding money with no ability to sell, even though he was selling IP he didn't own.

There was supposed to be a Ramirez (Tony Todd) version of the coffee but I'm not sure if they ever actually sold it. That would be the real collector's item.

One little mistake...
Like Sule becoming Zulu??

Did you know that the Eiffel Tower was sold to two different scrape-iron companies before the scam artist got caught? Imagine what Mr. Peters could have pulled off.....

Saw this on the Facebook group...........haven't been able to find the doc it came from though|
(evidently oral arguments are canceled?)

"SCHEDULING NOTICE TO ALL PARTIES AND ORDER by Judge R. Gary Klausner. Plaintiffs CBS Studios Inc. and Paramount Pictures Corporation’s Motion for Partial Summary Judgment [72, 85] and Defendants Axanar Productions, Inc. and Alec Peters’ Motion for Summary Judgment [75], calendared for hearing on December 19, 2016, have been taken under submission and off the motion calendar. No appearances by counsel are necessary. The Court will issue a ruling after full consideration of properly submitted pleadings. IT IS SO ORDERED."

If that's accurate, I guess Judge Klausner doesn't want to hear Erin Ranahan repeat her same arguments ad-nausem (that failed in the MtD and every other defense motion she's reiterated them in) in person. ;)

That would be the infamous Ramirez Espresso Blend. My guess is that Tony Todd — no fan of Axanar — put up a fuss about his image being used in such a blatantly commercial fashion.

Looks like Judge Klausner is telling the kids he doesn't care who started it, he's going to finish it. I personally think the anvil is about to fall on AP's head, but I've been wrong before...

The quoted text IS the document. It's just a short scheduling order posted on PACER, the public court information site.

I would not read much into this beyond the judge feels he has sufficient information to make a decision on both motions and that oral argument will not benefit him.
