The first time some one brags about being on page 1,000 I'm going to delete at least 20 of my posts dropping them to page 999 and they'll look quite silly.

I'm not really sure why Peters is still trying anyways. Even if he wins the rights to make Axanar, which he won't, he still has to make the damn movie. And who's willing to jump in and help him do so at this point? Just throw in the towel bud.

not to mention the money he still needs I think its about 700k which ok He MAY! et but seriously! not gonna happen....

I'd bet my truck that their is going to be a feature length documentary about this someday, and it will be a heart of darkness situation where the documentary is better then the movie would have been. After all, this is basically the OJ Simpson trial for nerds. It would have a good narrative structure, since the scales continuously tip him into more and more of villain territory as it progresses, and it's wild enough that I think even non trekkies would enjoy the ride.

Maybe they can show it in a double feature with "The Con of Wrath."

Here's some suggested titles for an Axanar documantary:
Axanar: Nearly a Motion Picture
Axanar II; The Wrath of Alec Peters
Axanar III: The Search for a Studio Tenant
Axanar IV: Voyage to the Sushi Bar
Axanar V: The Final Insult to Fandom
Axanar VI: JJ Abrams: The Undiscovered Ally
:ack:

Ahem. Sorry to be a grammar fascist, but I keep seeing the following homophone confusion here: it's "piqued" my interest, not "peaked" or "peeked".

peak = highest point
peek = to look
pique = stimulate interest or curiosity

We now return to our scheduled AP snark in progress. :D

My interest really peaked when I saw this. (See what I did there?) :D

Yeah, I see what you're saying there. Still in all I 'do' think there are numbers of people who are still very willing to jump in and help him. And more of them on the horizon with the sci-fi community now being courted.

I find myself questioning that that film in its original form is his actual goal. I find myself toying with the notion that the truer goals are to be in business in/or around the world of Hollywood -and- being a celebrity. That the first concept of getting himself there naturally led to this person to choose Trek because that's where his first interest and (though genuinely limited) experience is. And where a large in-place audience exists. That gave a path to get celebrity and income in/around Hollywood.

If the original path using Trek is somehow thwarted (or not depending on court ruling or settlement) I speculate the goals remain the same. Celebrity, and income in or around Hollywood.

The sci-fi community would also fulfill those goals in my mind: a large fanatic audience already in place, conventions for minor celebrity for the taking. And from what I'm seeing this restructured path is already beginning to take shape in Real Time now.

And a PR guy who is now proving to be doing a damned fine PR job at spinning the the now and possible future transitions that may go in that direction. Plus what I speculate is a good living getting ready to take off and be steady from the 'new backers' ' goals for taking over the studio itself.

The principle seems to have exhibited for years the ability to rally needed resources, even in the face of what others of us are interpreting as self-interested cons. Still, it continues doesn't it. And still, people rally. Now as to just how long these things can continue is debatable in the extreme depending on who is debating. Those who have not been burned by the march and who 'see the vision' and who 'believe in the person with the vision' have an entirely different interpretation of all the facts. I'm seeing this happening right now; same facts, unbelievably difference in processing them.

It seriously blows my mind. But it's happening anyway.

sooo..... it is conceivable to me, at this time anyway, that the truer goals I suspect of income in or around Hollywood and celebrity in an already existing fan world could still play out because this person still has people from the original axanar scenario who will indeed jump in to help make his dreams come true since he demonstrates the ability to sell his dreams as theirs too. And he's now building a new supply of them in the sci-fi community itself.

I think he will adapt. I suspect he will survive. I suspect he will achieve what I only suspect are his truer goals of at least minor celebrity and a fairly good income in or around Hollywood.

AND... I'm hoping for the outcome to be very different from what I'm talking about suspecting it will be.

Only a modest number of connections anyone makes are going to be ones that really open doors. Based on ample testimony by prior burnees, I question whether Alec can hold back on being toxic (sooner rather than later) with any such resources he may get out of respect for the superficial appearances of his intentions, or his mailing list.

Okay, here is how I think it went:

There was the Paramount hosted Star Trek ticket holder event. (with possibly additional invitations given out)

A bunch of fans who won a ticket to and traveled long distances to get to the event couldn't get in because there wasn't enough seating. NEED ASSISTANCE HERE BECAUSE I CAN NOT YET FIND INFORMATION THAT CORROBORATES THIS.

Mr. Peters attended.

Messrs. Abrams & Lin are onstage.

At the very end Mr. Abrams mentions axanar, his & Mr. Lin's support of fan films, their and especially Mr. Lin's participation in speaking against the lawsuit to TPTB, and that the lawsuit will soon be going away.

Mr. Lin sits still and silent during these seconds Mr. Abrams is talking about this.

Afterward…..

Someone here mentioned that at the event there was a booth where the guests were invited to sit for a minute and talk into a camera about what Trek means to them.

These videos in part or full were put on an official Trek website

Mr. Peters made one.

It showed up on that website.

He said he loved Star Trek and was happy that He and fan films are supported by Messrs. Lin & Abrams and how happy he was that Mr. Abrams told everybody the C/P lawsuit was justly being dropped.

[Abrams did NOT say the lawsuit was being dropped]

In a matter of hours his video was removed from that official Trek website.

There has been no reason given that I know of as to why it was taken down.

Others will know more and correct the above or add to it where necessary.
