CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

This thread was meant for us to dance on the corpse of other people's dreams. That dance must continue without distraction.

When there's something new to dance about, we'll definitely be dancing.

If Alec Peters had stolen someone's IP in the Federation, do you think he'd be sued for credits, or shot by a Starfleet firing squad?

Depends. If Roddenberry was Federation president, Peters would be put in front of a firing squad. No one steals from the Great Bird.

Found this little gem of Alec
Anyone else notice how Alec wants to take over everything Trek related? I wouldn't let that guy anywhere near my con. If he showed up, I would have him trespassed off the property for fear he would start trying to hustle all my customers.

Yeah - glad somebody has noticed it

"We need $650,000" to do the whole film.

Timecode 2:50 he says to stop by the Axanar table because there's swag people can buy which goes to the making of the movie.

He's like one of those illegal vendors who take advantage of large gatherings like festivals, concerts, and cons - quickly setting up a makeshift table to hawk his bootleg crap before he gets tossed out. But in this case, CBS did nothing for years so he got real comfy and started building his own shanty thinking he could squat on other people's property indefinitely. Alec isn't a creator he's a counterfeiter. I don't think C/P will let this happen again.

I wonder if this could be used by CBS and Paramount

There was a use -- to pry apart the claims intended to hide building a studio and merchandising empire so people in a position to speak on it/act on it could be more articulate. Now, though, it does seem discovery will take care of the rest and just saying "wtf" as things go along is what's left.

What I say when people mention George Takei. I'm more interested in what people who are currently relevant to Star Trek think of things.
Takei has his place in the Trek pantheon, but his opinion as to what is and isn't "Trek" is no more valid than anyone else - well except perhaps Shatner, Berman, and maybe Michael Okuda.

I don't think any of those people, except Okuda, are relevant anymore where Star Trek is concerned.
