It's true. I'm JJ Abrams. I've fooled you all for years.

Roberto Orci here!

Hey, you guys think you're something but I'm the head of this Bad Robot conspiracy. Note that I'm the only one that milowen ever mentions by name.
You are also the billionaire who funded Star Trek: Beyond in your spare moments between sending out death threats.

All i want to do is argue, that the assumption, that all Star Wars fan films have to follow the set of rules for the annual contest, is wrong. There seemed to be some confusion arouds that.

I do not intent to rally any troops, especially not Pro-Axanar.

Any Star Wars Fan Films, that don't want to run the risk of running afoul of Lucas Films, and/or the larger Walt Disney Corporation, would follow the set rules for the annual contest. Otherwise, they are violating copyrighted IP.

The Axanar people are so far gone, they wouldn't get that it was done to make fun of them.

I wonder what it must feel like to be a rational person working on some professional aspect of Axanar, and seeing your donors are being encouraged to believe in conspiracy and prevented from being told the most basic financial aspects of the for-profit company claiming fan-fic exemptions to build a studio. Probably pretty crappy.

Any fan film violates Copyright. For the most part they are ignored. I 'm following the SW fan film scene for years and i am not aware of films, that do not intend to enter the contest making an effort to comply that ruleset. Most of the films i am aware of do not, lengthwise they tend to fall in the 20 to 30 minutes bracket.

A friend told me he heard from someone in the studio it was pretty much "We told them to stop using our marks and they didn't."

Re Gary Graham's politics. I find that if you have both him and Hertzler on your feed, things even out.

(My 14th day, yay!) Yesterday I posted a bunch of links on the CBS thread, on the post re Alec in Memory Alpha. The links cover the years before he was an Executive Producer.

Except for the basic suckage of everything about it.

"Let's build a new TV series around a second-banana character about whom nothing interesting has been established other than in the imaginations of a very small base of trufans. And then let's get an actor who outside of occasional appearances as that character over the last two decades has had a TV and movie career profile of zero."

"Great idea - what's the series about?"

"Oh, the exact same old thing, except with Takei instead of William Shatner - and a way uglier ship."

The whole campaign was orchestrated by some fans whose approach to dealing with criticism makes Alec Peters look like a public relations genius by comparison.

I want to say, "That's harsh," but no, that's really not harsh. I like Takei, but your characterization of his career is accurate. An Enterprise-B series headlined by Alan Ruck probably would have been more viable.

I'm just gonna leave this here:
