Any Star Wars Fan Films, that don't want to run the risk of running afoul of Lucas Films, and/or the larger Walt Disney Corporation, would follow the set rules for the annual contest. Otherwise, they are violating copyrighted IP.

I wonder what it must feel like to be a rational person working on some professional aspect of Axanar, and seeing your donors are being encouraged to believe in conspiracy and prevented from being told the most basic financial aspects of the for-profit company claiming fan-fic exemptions to build a studio. Probably pretty crappy.
 
Any fan film violates Copyright. For the most part they are ignored. I 'm following the SW fan film scene for years and i am not aware of films, that do not intend to enter the contest making an effort to comply that ruleset. Most of the films i am aware of do not, lengthwise they tend to fall in the 20 to 30 minutes bracket.
 
A friend told me he heard from someone in the studio it was pretty much "We told them to stop using our marks and they didn't."

Re Gary Graham's politics. I find that if you have both him and Hertzler on your feed, things even out.

(My 14th day, yay!) Yesterday I posted a bunch of links on the CBS thread, on the post re Alec in Memory Alpha. The links cover the years before he was an Executive Producer.

I want to say, "That's harsh," but no, that's really not harsh. I like Takei, but your characterization of his career is accurate. An Enterprise-B series headlined by Alan Ruck probably would have been more viable.
