EDIT: I also did a search on PacerMonitor for Federal matters. There are 5724 results on a search of "Alec Peters." I'm not digging through all of those.
Do you suppose we'll get any Twitter pics this weekend of the Band Of Brothers out celebrating their status as celebrity defendants?
I'm not trying to take a dig at Renegades--even though, I didn't like it, aside from the ship design and seeing Walter back in uniform. For me, outside watching this all play out, it feels like it's losing steam, and then the chilling effect from the Axanar nuclear winter, I just think Renegades is going to be the first domino to fall without CBS having to C&D the production.I'd actually argue that STC has been big-budget (from a fan film perspective) since day one. New Voyages built their way up to their current size and budget level, but STC started with a high bar and just kept running with it.
However, I do think they're the one exception to date, and they're definitely producing a quality product.
If I had to guess who was going to be next on the lawsuit merry-go-round, it'll be STC. I think Renegades is dead in the water, I don't think they're going to be around much longer--I go be wrong, and it's no offense to anyone on Renegades, I just don't see it. Star Trek Continues is getting a little to big, to popular, and I think they're going to run into the same mower-blade as Axanar.
Oh, that's news to meWe are moving forward with filming our last episode of Renegades, The Requiem. If CBS issues us a C&D we will, of course, stop and that will be it for it for STR. We have over 3000 fans that have donated to the Kickstarter, we cant just sit around wondering about the Axanar lawsuit and if we are next. Need to move on and get this episode done.
We have seen no direct evidence that suggest we (or STC and STNV ) will get shut down. Para/CBS has a case with Axanar, we cant live in fear over it, we just need to make sure everything is done the right way.
"CBS and Paramount are are like your parents. You want to do your own thing, but if you don't respect them, they will take the keys to the car away from you. "

According to a comment on this Axanar blog, we may have this all wrong.

What I do know is that if Axanar is quashed, CBS/Paramount may as well sell the franchise, because they will never earn another penny from me.

Huzzah! I think by this logic my sister in law owns Farscape.
I'm gonna ask her for a loan.
I suppose it is some kind of progress that the Indiegogo page finally acknowledges the lawsuit - but then you actually read the part where it says: "PLEASE NOTE: As of 1/30/15 Axanar Productions has been served with a lawsuit by CBS for copyright infringement."
So, they were served by the lawsuit nearly a year ago?
Of course, even if it is just a mistake, it doesn't exactly fill one with confidence that they would be able to manage money properly, if they struggle with the simple stuff... like getting the date right...
Why would Indiegogo be donating to Axanar?
His pennies are very important.

Hi W L Jasper,
Thank you for reaching out. We are aware of the lawsuit by CBS/Paramount against Axanar. However, per our Terms of Use, Indiegogo does not get involved in disputes between our Users and third parties, unless we receive a court order to do so, in which case we will comply. It is up to CBS/Paramount to provide us with this documentation, and as of this email, we have received no such documentation for this campaign.

I donated to help with the legal fight against the scum at CBS Paramount.
There's a reason McDonalds has "WARNING: COFFEE IS HOT" or some such on their coffee cups. They got sued because coffee was hot -- something fairly obvious to most of us -- and that was the court-mandated result.
