CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I'd bet my truck that their is going to be a feature length documentary about this someday, and it will be a heart of darkness situation where the documentary is better then the movie would have been. After all, this is basically the OJ Simpson trial for nerds. It would have a good narrative structure, since the scales continuously tip him into more and more of villain territory as it progresses, and it's wild enough that I think even non trekkies would enjoy the ride.
OJ Simpson trial?
Documentary?
So, basically (in that same vein of thought ):

SCENE 69
INT. FEDERAL COURTROOM

Erin Ranahan: "Since JJ Abrams and Justin Lin threw a fit...[at Paramount Execs.]...you must acquit!":shrug::whistle:

I might have saved scene sitxy nine for another topic but I digress ....

I hope this is readable. I noodled around in InDesign (a program I have to keep sharp in for school stuff anyway) to put this together.

The Doe Reckoning is soon upon us! Who shall named? Who shall remain shrouded in darkness? And who else shall jump ship?

The very latest from AP.
LL: We have said many times, and we need to say it again, if the new Star Trek movies are not your cup of tea, fine, but don't bitch about them here. There are many types of Star Trek, and we honor them all here. Bashing JJ Trek is NOT acceptable. Bashing someone who supports JJ Trek is NOT acceptable. And even if you don't like the new movies, out of respect and admiration for Justin Lin and JJ Abrams, who have gone out of their way to support Axanar, be nice. We all owe them that. (And besides I really think the new movie will be good, so be patient!).

IDIC has a meaning. You all know what that is. So live it.

Funny, I seem to remember him saying things that didn't exactly square with that.... :vulcan:

Alec in part gathered Sauron's army to defend him by verbal force. Gosh, now he has to tell them to drink tea and debate spring fashion. The wheel turns. :guffaw:

the kerning is quite wide on short lines. Perhaps a font that doesn't emphasize that aspect could be better.

Ahem. Sorry to be a grammar fascist, but I keep seeing the following homophone confusion here: it's "piqued" my interest, not "peaked" or "peeked".

peak = highest point
peek = to look
pique = stimulate interest or curiosity

We now return to our scheduled AP snark in progress. :D
Thank God you pointed that out. This common error always throws me into a fit of pique.

I also want to throw out here (and this is just me talking), but the film big cheeses are all male. Fan fiction writers are rather overwhelming female. There is also a pretty large LGBT segment within the fanfiction writing community. I don't want to go down the PC or bust road, but the filmmakers truly are not that diverse a crowd. This is not a suggestion to go with tokenism or making one means of expression or existence better or more authentic than another. But it does present a monolith of individuals who do not well represent other creative types - who also, probably, outnumber the number of fan filmmakers.

What's I've always found interesting is that Star Trek fan films have been overwhelmingly dominated by men, and usually have told stories intended to fit within the official narrative. Fan fiction, on the other hand, seems to have, at least historically, been dominated by women and frequently featured stories that have disrupted the official narrative (the most well-known example, of course, being Kirk/Spock slash fiction).

As if we didnt't need more proof he's a hypocritical, opportunistic piece of garbage......

Their you go! You no you're grammar! Unlike some of the other loosers on teh Internet!

Remember that Kickstarter for Star Thieves that was planning on shooting at Valkyrie Studios (or whatever AP and RMB want to call it this week)?

Looks like they just made it, with $31,970 pledged of a $30,000 goal.

One of the backer comments here caught my interest, though:

Congratulations to Dennis and the entire Star Thieves team. I'm glad to have helped.

Looks like the good folks at Valkyrie Studios made sure this one was funded...so they'd have a tenant.
