Wow, a million dollars. This just goes to show you what the people don't really want to see which is what is on our screens now. Trek must be taken away from those sons of suits over there at bad robot. They are bad news.

Valid issue, but a separate one.

How exactly would that happen? At gunpoint? :wtf:

While perhaps not huge profitable—if profitable at all—Star Trek Beyond took in almost 350 million world wide. It seems way more people are interested in Bad Robot Star Trek than Peters Star Trek.

Good luck with your attempt at taking it away.

Star Trek is dead. Long live something like Star Trek.

They're 150 million away from being good and dwindling and are you really gonna compare Alec Peter's budget for his project to theirs? They pocket more money than he'd ever see in his lifetime. I'm glad he got a studio out of this. Now maybe he would consider doing and crowd funding original things from now on. He should be looking through scripts and have an open submission policy for another kickstarter if he ever wants to topple Trek and/or Wars for that matter.

Okay, that was the whole point of the law suit. It had nothing to do with "Axanar was better than CBS-Trek" (and I would argue it wasn't) but rather that Mr. Peters saw it as an easy way to build his own production studio by using the Trek brand as a source of income.

Yea, what a way/scheme to make money. He should be held liable for every dollar to be paid back plus fined for being insidious, good intentions and all.

Any good intentions Peters might have had went away pretty quickly. It seems to me that once the money started rolling the whole thing just turned into a way for him to get other people to pay for him to live out his dreams of becoming a big shot Hollywood producer. If he really had good intentions he would have just shut up and made the damn movie by now.

Bad Robot only handles the movies, so if you don't like them there is still Discovery.
The thing that cracks me up about this kind of attitude towards Axanar, and all of Peters' talk about how it was real Star Trek while the Kelvin movies were, is that from everything people who read the script said, it was nothing but a bunch of dumb, badly written, mindless action, which is exactly the kind of thing people who don't like the Kelvin movies (falsely, IMO) accuse them of being.

Are we really gonna do the "Waah! All new Star Trek is objectively bad because I personally don't like it! Even though Gene Roddenberry is dead and I never met him I know he would agree with me!" thing? Because it's frakking exhausting.
