I hope you're not buying into the idea that a fan-film done in the "docudrama" style is somehow covered by Fair Use.
As someone else pointed out, it's a shame they didn't just do "Axanar" as the Docudrama with Trek star cameos/recurring. They could have done a six part miniseries about the entire war with prelude acting as a sort of "presummary"
I think you are dead on. At least 30-40% of those donations looked to be based on "Psst, gimme ten bucks to make it to payday, and I'll pay you right back."Maybe there aren't even 300 by now. I think, there are many donations coming from the "inner circle" under different names. Just to show "outsiders" that it's right to donate to that honorable cause.
Either those "donations" might be drawn back just before the end of the campaign or those "donors" might get a refund "in private". Could be fewer than 100 donors at all.
Yes, I'm this mistrusting.
The Church of Axanar™Correct, we have moved from credibility to credulity.
The remaining donors are either willing to spend money chasing a dream or fulfilling a delusional belief.
But...but...but...it's a NONPROFIT! Nonprofits pay salaries! Film students! Fan films! I'm really into philanthropy now! Really!Sorry, but I WOULD call the entire Industry Studios Indegogo and any further crowfunding by Alec Peters for 'other' Axanar production projects a scam in that he's NOT doing it for any sort of homage to, or 'love' for Star Trek fandom. For him it's all about starting/maintaining a for profit business and or self financial enrichment first and foremost - period.
Wait. What new blog? By whom?
Link??
Well, there was.I hear there is a nice complex in Waco, Texas that Alec and his 300 disciples can more to.![]()

Well, there was.
Read that. It's hilarious! Steven cites a million dollar budget for a movie that was actually made and released, while missing the point - THERE IS NO AXANAR MOVIE AND THERE NEVER WILL BE. And $1.4 million dollars of Trek fan money is gone.

Thank you for that detailed "behind the scenes" budget, Steven! It amplifies what we have been shouting about for a year: There is no movie, but there was plenty of money to make a movie (the sample budget in his blog PROVES it) - so where's the damn movie?
That's just sad. Or hilarious. Yeah, I'm going with hilarious.
