For The World Is Hollow, And I Have Touched The Sky
I walked home the same way after class on Tuesdays,
And now I passed the bench where she should be.
I never told her how I felt each day, walking,
When I knew she would be there.
I never told her of the freedom
That allowed my heart to open, slowly,
And the silly grin I felt inside.
I was happy.

Now the bench is covered with snow.
Nobody sat there.
I walked more slowly because it was cold.
Because it was so very cold.

I remembered where she would park her car
But I had stopped looking for her there,
Stopped waiting to catch a glimpse, or see
Her coming to me.
She had stopped parking there to avoid me, and
The cruel things she thought I’d done. I hadn’t done.
And so I stopped looking, and wondering
If she would ever know me.

I have always wanted to know
How I have touched lives.
Reality is made by touching others.
And of our lives—dreams and hope—
Never what the senses sense alone.
Reality is the sharing of dreams,
And we are like silent titans, in a hollow earth.
Never knowing or touching sky.
But we share our dreams to the world.

I have often wondered about the lives I have affected
And about the loves
I dropped like candy wrappers out of speeding-car windows.
Have I touched their lives?
Questioning and re-questioning the visions
And revisions of the ways I have behaved
And the stupid things I said.
What had I become? The arguments I’d won.
Are there clouds upon the sky?

Then I saw her blue car, not that I was looking.
She hadn’t been there in a long time,
But there it was, in the space we knew together.

I laughed out loud,
And grinned the rest of the day,
Because I remember her, and I have touched her life.
I am happy now,
For the world is hollow, and I have touched the sky.

I do not recommend those books, and that was even before the Axanar connection. They are flawed in too many ways to make them worthwhile reference books. @Harvey can detail this further. For more info on the author you could check out this twitter account.

The short version? Don't buy these books.

The slightly longer version? They're badly researched, badly written, and barely (and, badly) edited. Unless they're directly quoting from the (publicly available) memos (and, once and a while, not even then), take them with a pound or two of salt.

The obnoxiously long-winded version? Check out my blog below. :p

It would make sense that Alec would endorse these books. They're as self published as he is. And both try to make themselves appear bigger than they really are. Alec wants people to think he's a big time producer (or a lawyer), when it's clear that he's not. And Cushman is not a respected historian.

And who do they both have in common? Robert Meyer Burnett. He made the pitch video featuring Cushman for the last Kickstarter. I've discussed these books with Rob, who I feel was duped by Marc's passion, rather than any sort of authenticity.

And Cushman's Twitter page is awful too. The Star Trek underwear shot is an odd cover choice.

I don't think I've ever run across anyone this gullible before.

Yep, still sucking down that Kool-aid:

You know, as much as I like some of their programming, for some reason (RMB), I can't stand Heroes (RMB), but I'm not sure why (Star Trek "god" RMB)

And if there's anybody on that channel that's totally in the tank for his good buddy RMB it's Jon Schnepp...

A lot of them that had previously supported RMB whole heartedly have pulled back on the discussion regarding Axanar at Collider has dissapeared from all of their shows it's only really on Heroes that it still occurs and even then it has been toned down a lot. I still don't like it when they bring it up. I know they have gotten some backlash on their articles and youtube channel for the support they originally gave them. Not to many people commenting on the Pro Axanar stuff mind you.

Just listened to the podcast with John Van Citters, and I have to say that he came across as extremely balanced and reasonable. Yes, the guidelines (specifically the 15-minute time limit) spell an end to my two favorite productions in their current form--New Voyagers/Phase 2 and Continues. But now that CBS is launching a new TV series, it makes sense that they don't want anything that looks like competition. I just hope that the beautiful sets that have been built for those productions don't go to waste and can continue to be used in some form.

Also, as entertaining as the Axanar Twitter feed has been--what with their retweets of delusional Axafan's calls to boycott CBS/Paramount interspersed with official statements from them saying they do not support a boycott--I unfollowed them after whoever is behind the account (Alec, I assume) wanted to keep arguing with me about Vic Mignogna and even DM'ed me a link to a Tumblr page with a number of inflammatory accusations against him.

He was pretty pissed when I told him I made screenshots of the whole thing and reserved the right to post them publicly. It's great fun to have Alec Peters question your personal integrity; it's like being yelled at by Richard Simmons for wearing insufficiently long shorts.

Wow, the least natural delivery of a greeting ever award goes to... you, RMB, er, man.

CBS/P and donors must really feel like they are groundhog-dayed into this
