Way back in the days B.A (Before Axanar) I learned to never contribute for a first time venture. I watched one by one peters out after a sales pitch.
Meanwhile Phase II/NV was cool, nice productions so I never minded tossing a few buck their way after each production was released each year.
But all good things must come to an end. (Stupid rule)
I looked back at NV, forward towards STC and thought my little contributions would only be a drop in the ocean.
I found Potemkin filming in a carport, some 10 plus or minus productions released so I asked if I could send them a few dollars. A few days latter a thank you from Randy and he really needed a new memory card for his camera. I was like wow, I actually made a difference. This was a sharp contrast to NV who had two or three different donate buttons. I forget but one for overhead another for production and whatever. Why should I care if it all goes to the same place. Well I got a strongly worded message about how I contributed to the wrong department and should request Paypal to return my money so I can contribute to the proper department.
To tell you the truth and I NEVER took it personally but some of the people at NV came across like us little people weren't intelligent enough to speak to. Except Patty.
I may not be very smart to them but I built my own business not only by contracting to both the state and Federal ag business (IPM) but also Lucas Arts, Electronic Arts and a host of other computer game developers.
Never Ever disrespect anyone if you expect get somewhere. Honestly I've pulled the financial rug out from under a bay area trucking company just over the co ex owner calling me a cheat, so I signed every truck and the route they drove over to each driver. we held the contracts to three stadiums/airport connections.
Live and learn about attempting to put a coke addict back on their feet.
