Well, I am also an Honor Harrington fan. The fan club just had their annual meeting and announced the location of next year’s con. Yep, at the Axanar studios. I just wanted to shake my head.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Looks like he found another fandom to glom off of...

I wonder how much longer it will be until he starts up his fundraising for a Honor Harrington fan film....:barf::barf2::censored::crazy:
To be honest, his entire modus operandi is focused on the "studio" and making it a source of income (not profit, just income).
He won't attempt to make a film, rather he will attempt to make a location where he can financially exploit groups of fans who haven't gotten much attention and who would be wowed by a dusty warehouse with a half-finished set.

:sigh: Everyone involved with that thing, on both sides of the "discussion", should just stop, go home, and find something new to do.
Once upon a time, folks were "monitoring" Alec. I think that is a worthwhile pursuit.
Sadly, the tit-for-tat arguments are becoming more commonplace. I think it frustrates people that Alec and his minions consistently act in a reprehensible manner, yet every time some critic slips and acts immaturely, Alec and his minions blow it out of proportion, and use that behavior to justify any number of heinous things.
It's challenging dealing with people who have no shame.

It's not logical, but I believe in karma. ... Just wait.

or consider some old and wise words. Galatians “... for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Ok, a few of those posts were unnecessarily mean, but a lot of them did seem like perfectly reasonable questions from people concerned with the con associating itself with Axanar.
I only think it's fair that people who are concerned with the con's association with Axanar be allowed to voice their concerns, as long as they stay civil, which admittedly some of these people did not.
I wonder if Lane has any idea that posts like this actually make the situation worse, because all it's going to do is piss off the people he calls out and just make them more likely to attack them again. I'm kind of starting wonder if Lane is purposefully antagonizing the "haters" just so he can get them to do this kind of stuff and then blog about how horrible they are.

Unfortunately from my observations, it seems there have been a lot of "slip ups" as of late. And its been going that way for awhile now, which is part of the reason I left the Facebook groups. (I still stick my head in on occasion.) I am all for showing the world Alec's true face (even though I believe he does a pretty good job of that on his own) but its gotten to the point where its a lot of sniping and blowing things out of proportion on both sides of the coin.

I want to strenuously argue against false equivalence in this issue. You and I have been warriors in the cause of reasonableness for several years first against wacky anti-JJ people, then continuing on the Axanar stuff and I agree that people make mistakes but what divides the critics from the minions is that the critics own up to the mistake, are publicly scolded BY THEIR OWN FRIENDS, and adjustments are made.
The minions consistently and regularly act in a heinous manner, rarely ever acknowledge any wrongdoing, fight to conceal or ignore their actions, and refuse to change.
That's a significant difference.
OTOH, the critics have become victims of their own success, driving Alec into the shadows so successfully that he rarely pokes his head up and does something newsworthy, so people get bored and get into endless fights with minions over stuff that middle - schoolers wouldn't even bother to argue about.
So, some balance needs to be restored, but not due to mutual misconduct on "both sides" but rather the critics need to continually maintain their focus on what really matters, and FlimFlamFactor isn't one of those things.

Probably a fair distinction. I have been out of the conversation (outside of here, for the most part) and have probably missed things, so I apologize if a false equivalency was set up. You are correct in refocusing their efforts on the correct target.

And, ah, the good old days of fighting Para Mobius and Fred Archer. I saw Leslie posting something about Disco on Dayton Ward's page the other day in her typical tone. I almost responded but decided that's really not me anymore. :)

She's a psychopath, and I get a great deal of satisfaction in seeing Alec have to pretend to like her. That's how low he has sunk, he has to truckle to the woman who depicted Picard as an abusive rapist in her "fan fiction"

What are you talking about? She's a key member of Team Axanar! She wrote a blog for them! An awkward, poorly written blog, but a blog nonetheless!

I just love it how she pushed the idea that I was a fake account from a CBS employee because my Facebook security was set so high. It was people like her that made me do that!

Also did a panel or two at some con. Sat on the panel with David Gerrold, of all people, another person whom I take delight in seeing be forced to associate with her.

At the end of the day, if the three of them are going to hang together, Imma go the other way. I love "The Trouble With Tribbles" but I've lost so much respect for that man. What a fount of toxicity!

P.S. - "Toxicity Font." Great band name!
