I'm not sure why they'd have to go through the expense of shooting in LA for "aliens" given that Atlanta over the past decade has grown a relatively large filming community complete with plenty of actors who can play no name aliens or even recast Kharn since Richard Hatch died. It just seems like more wasted money.
Oh yeah, I think there's constantly tons of stuff filming in Atlanta these days, I think The Walking Dead still films there, and I think pretty much all of the MCU movies since the first Avengers have filmed there. It's pretty much becoming Hollywood East at this point.

All of this seems a bit excessive for 2 15 minute films.

Only watched less than two minutes of that video, and just gave up. He actually had the cheek to sit on the bridge set he is not going to use in his film, and talk about Garths' quarters set getting near completion for a few scenes!? Huh?
Peters already succumbed to public outcry about not using the bridge and says it may appear in bonus footage. The bridge and now Garth's quarters are a vital part of maintaining the illusion of progress and driving donations.

Because the "team" he's convinced to do the extensive makeup work for as little money as he'll have are based in LA.

Well, I guess we'll be seeat least few less movies/shows filming in Atlanta now.
Jonathan Lane discusses who will direct his Axanar fan film in his latest post:

I only read up to who his directors are, and I'm kind of amazed anybody with a history in the fan film community would want anything to do with anyone related to Axanar.

Because people in fan films do fan films. Good people will lend their talents because that's what they love to do. It's not so difficult to understand.

According to theory, there might be three types of black holes: stellar, supermassive, and Axanar black holes. depending on their size. These black holes have also formed in different ways.
Stellar black holes are formed from collapsing stars.
Supermassive black holes likely exist in the centers of most galaxies, including our own galaxy, the Milky Way.
Axanar black holes trap only donor money, where once sucked in, is doomed to never escape.

Fair enough... although I wonder after almost 5 years and counting how many of those likely verbal pledges to help/volunteer/work at scale/whatever will actually be fulfilled especially after the lawsuit...
