Castle season 8 discussion thread - spoilers

Castle's lost time has been a giant failure. The first attempt to answer it was very underwhelming and nonsensical, and now this new spin isn't much better except to tie every plot together. It was clear that cliffhanger was written for shock value without any idea as to how to resolve it.

The issue was I think that was show runner group A or B and now they are on show runner group D or E. So every time there is a change there is a new spin and no one plans it out.

Beckett should just be running for the Senate to explain her not being in episodes. I could write better shows that the few I have seen.

Summer Glau's character was a waste of her time; if you're going to bring in Firefly actors, at least let them be interesting characters. The only positive to this episode is that I still enjoy it when Major Dad shows up in stuff.

A nice Beckett-centric episode last night, with some good tertiary characters, and some good strong scenes for Stana.
Was the Sergeant the same guy who played Matches Malone on Gotham?
Nice to see Wings Hauser again as yet another baby daddy (he was K.C.'s daughter's estranged father on China Beach).
Also always good to see James Morrison in a commanding role. He's well suited to that.
Although it felt like they sort of pulled the identity of the killer out of a hat - let's see, which of the guest cast will it be (covers eyes and sticks hand in hat).
At least this may finally be the end of the fake break-up charade.

It was a pretty good episode, but yeah, that skimming money thing came out of nowhere.

If the killer had been Kate's former instructor, that would've been three-for-three on the show where Kate's former mentor turned out to be bad. But they didn't have James Morrison there for just one scene so you knew he had to come back.

I hate the ones where Castle believes in stupid shit. Especially when it ends on one of those "maybe it's true" winks - this time literally.

I passed on last week's episode in favor of opening day for the Rockies, and I actually fell asleep about 40 minutes in on last night's episode. I'm not even sure I care enough to go back and see the end.

I reluctantly stopped watching this season when I realized that a) the latest Plot Device to Keep Caskett Apart (tm) was entirely pointless, and b) Beckett's promotion to Captain had no real consequence on she did every day anyway. Changes with no impact always bug me.

Guess I'll be back for the finale. Maybe. Who knows. Might watch a CW superhero show instead, they're more realistic these days.

I haven't watched season 8 yet but if they announce a season 9 with no Kate then I won't even bother. Castle has gone exactly the way Bones did for me, a show I loved for the characters & cast chemistry over the general stories but it just stayed around way too long and made me bail.

Word. I haven't bothered watching this season, but to go this route... I'm speechless. Don't bother with another season, guys.

Unless they retool the show around Richard and Alexis as PIs and ditch all the cops, losing Katic really makes no sense. They're keeping this show past life support. Of course, this news could all be meaningless if ABC cancels the show.

Like bones I have not watched any of this season and I'm not sure why this show is still on the air but who the hell thinks it's a good idea to try and continue with out Kate.
And I also wonder why stana wasn't even asked to come back? Its been a bad couple of weeks to be female on TV.
