Casting Suggestions for New Series

I've seen a lot but the one that I haven't heard but I think is a good idea: Summer Gaul.
She is popular with sci-fi fans and hasn't done much recently. She's proven she's a good actress that could handle a variety of characters but just hasn't gotten a lot of big roles.

Another suggestion: Michael Ironside.
He would be a good captain, abrasive but competent. Someone with a lot of experience. Kind of like a more disgruntled Picard.

One more: David Tenant
This one is more of a dream and unlikely to happen but he could make a good science officer or Doctor ;)
It would just be cool for the tenth doctor to be in the new star trek series.

Anyone have any other good suggestions or dream casting?

Did I miss a description of the characters or plot of the show? Seems kind of hard to have a dream cast when you don't even know what role they're filling.
No, you right. The actual casting will start with scripts based around character decriptions established by the writers. They will cast actors to best fill those roles. We don't know how far along that process is or if they have even started it.

I'm just stating what actors I'd like to see in a star trek show. I can presume there will be a: Captain, First Officer, Science Officer, Chief Engineer, Doctor, Helm Officer, Tactical Officer, etc. Ultimately none of my suggestions are likely to be cast but its just a bit of fun, so maybe don't be such a buzzkill.

Well let's see, there will be ...

The leader
The know it all
The trouble maker
The one who need to have things explained to them
The ladies man
The calm insightful one
The innocent
The fool

And the angry one

......

My suggestion would be Danny Trejo. Regardless of the stardate, he's having a bad day.

Second Summer Glau!

I would also love to see Ming-Na Wen, Wentworth Miller and Viola Davis in the next series.

Ben Miles is a name I'll throw out there.

Sure, most on here won't know who he is, but then again, were William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks or Kate Mulgrew household names when they were casted?

Reason I picked him is because he's a middle-aged Englishman with lots of experience doing theatre... (just kidding).

While he has done theatre, I picked him because he's a very talented actor. Theatre actors mix well with Star Trek, and Miles was nominated for the Best Actor Tony award this year, and has experience on TV and film.

I personally haven't seen much of him, so I'm about as experienced with his work as a lot of you, but from what I've read, he could be an interesting pick. Plus, he looks kind of like Matthew McConaughey!

Andrew Scott was a name being thrown around a while back. Sounded good to me. :)

Michael Weatherly would play a great 40-ish Captain Kirk.

I really hope the new series is not a reboot/jjverse.

I want to see Avery Brooks, Patrick Stewart etc in handovers to new series set 18 years after Dominion War.

How any fan would want to see a reboot back to TOS or JJVerse as a series is beyond me.

Ignore him. He's just some fanboy who thinks his fan fiction is superior to everyone else's, hence he posts in the 'Future of Trek' forum.

...as opposed to your creative brilliance and genius aside from offering only the snark farts you spew.

While I am probably going to watch the new show regardless; I am hoping for a totally fresh take on Star Trek. Which means no reboot or prequel. I would like to see something that takes place 100-200 years after TNG (in the prime universe). Similar to what TNG did 20 years after TOS. That way they can bring in new fans without getting bogged down in the 50 years of Trek history but make references to it when appropriate.

That's kind of why I want to see a new cast and new characters. It will be fun to see if an actor/actress we already know from something else makes their mark in this new series.
For instance Kirk Acevedo from Fringe.
