Casting Suggestions for New Series

...as opposed to your creative brilliance and genius aside from offering only the snark farts you spew.
Nah, I'd rather keep my mouth shut then force my annoying fan fiction on to everyone.

Let's leave our ideas to the appropriate threads and stop acting like you have any involvement or say in the new series.

I really hope the new series is not a reboot/jjverse.
Ignore him. He's just some fanboy who thinks his fan fiction is superior to everyone else's, hence he posts in the 'Future of Trek' forum.
Far from ignoring him, I agree with his position. I would prefer a new ship-crew-situation. Not a retread of a previous series, definitely not a extension of the JJ universe.

But in all honesty I'm a fangirl.

So ignore me too?

I rest my case.

I kind of want one of the Doctors from Doctor Who to be in the new show. So how about Christopher Eccleston as the new captain.

I wasn't the biggest Ecclestone fan when he was the Ninth Doctor, but I'll admit that was more of my dislike of the character than his performance. I'd agree, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a leading role, his acting chops are pretty indisputable IMO.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing another PoC or minority in a leading role, potentially as Captain or XO.

I don't get what JohnD is suggesting here, but whatever, moving on.

I think Gina Torres deserves a shout out. Great actress with presence and authority in abundance. Could make a very strong female character, which seems to be the rage in Hollywood these days.

I agree with this. Unlike you I do not have the ape brain mentality and can be open to things of current trends and opportunities.
If you had given my ideas half ass of a chance, you would have LEARNED that in it the hero that saved the day is a woman.

But that would have involved you climbing down from the tree branch and slinging poop for a minute.

Q: The trial never ended, Captain. We never reached a verdict. But now we have. You're guilty.

Capt. Picard: Guilty of what?

Q: Of being inferior. Seven years ago, I said we'd be watching you, and we have been - hoping that your ape-like race would demonstrate *some* growth, give *some* indication that your minds had room for expansion. But what have we seen instead? You, worrying about Commander Riker's career. Listening to Counselor Troi's pedantic psychobabble. Indulging Data in his witless exploration of humanity.

Capt. Picard: We've journeyed to countless new worlds. We've contacted new species. We have expanded our understanding of the universe.

Q: In your own paltry, limited way. You have no *idea* how far you still have to go. But instead of using the last seven years to change and to grow, you have squandered them.

your reactions fall under the Ape Brain† mentality.
coined by Doug Drexler imho
Nice meme, did you get it from 2006? Got any funny kitten pictures to go with it?

Go suck a bag of dicks. You're not superior to anyone and your stupid fan fiction belongs in the FAN FICTION FORUM, not in the FUTURE OF TREK FORUM. Because believe it or not, YOU are not the future of Trek, and your fan fiction is not superior to anyone else's. Because ONE person agreed with one of your suggestions doesn't mean you can keep blabbering on and on about "muh female Spock!"

Take it somewhere else and stop being an asshole because some people actually pay attention to the rules. And no, JohnD, just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean we're "ape brains". Is that too hard for you to understand, or are you just going to keep being a self-centered dickhead about it?

Are you this stupid?

"Even though you just said you're open to things of current trends and opportunities, UNLIKE YOU, I can be open to things of current trends and opportunities."

Jesus Christ, shut the hell up. I didn't suggest Gina Torres because she's solely a female, because unlike you, I don't think of every female as the same person.

"You suggested a female actress, and I suggested a female saves the day in my fan fiction! WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON!"

But that would have involved you climbing down from the tree branch and slinging poop for a minute.

Oh look, another truly hilarious ape joke. Got any more? I feel like I'm talking to an old man with the maturity of a seven-year-old. Grow the fuck up.

While the lack of representation for LGBT characters is well-known, I wonder what chances of a working class character or even an over-weight character? The consensus seems to be that it's OK for certain minorities not to be represented as their removal from future society is viewed as essentially desirable.

But I'd be quite relieved to know that they still exist.

With that in mind... Kathy Burke.

So childish. Shalashaska. You are either very thin skinned, or think too highly of yourself.
Learn to laugh at yourself. I have years ago. It makes for a lot less clinched fists with blood boiling moments at people like me (who could care less if you pop like a balloon from the high blood pressure). Plus, laughing at self lets us all in on a lot of funny things we would otherwise miss.

Like your rant.

And no... Shespock is not the hero I spoke of. Your big ASSumption is showing!

APE BRAIN is a term coined (I believe) by Doug Drexler which is the mentality of "no that won't work..." which you Shalashaska display in spades... "if a man were meant to fly he'd have wings..." "if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon..." etc.
It was a term he used repeatedly in this video

And btw Shalashaska nice potty mouth. Does anyone tolerate being kissed by that nasty mouth?

There's a difference between laughing at myself/having a good sense of humour, and then being insulted when, not me, YOU are in the wrong. And others seem to agree with me.

For the love of God, get it through your thick skull. I don't care how good your fan fiction is, all it is is fan fiction. EVERYONE has said "I'm gonna be the one to make a new Trek series! They'll use my ideas!", and every one of them has been wrong. You're not anything special, you're not different. You're just a stranger who posts on a Trek forum with the sole intention to annoy people. The guys who do come up the ideas and make the shows are the ones who have experience and are hired for the job, like Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin.

Get off your high horse! I don't care how hopeful you are, you should not be spreading your fan fiction all over this subforum until there's any sign of it happening.

Yes, more people than those who enjoy reading your posts, at least.

I know that Michael Weatherly is a "favorite" for the new show, but has anyone seen anything that suggests what he's planning to do post-NCIS?

Personally, I think he'd be great in a Trek show.

I was right about you at least. {SMILE}
