Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

From the new Seekers novel, Second Nature, by David Mack -- here are my choices for a few crew members:

Hesh: Michael Emerson

Taryl: Morena Baccarin

Dastin: Chris Pratt

Hm. I like Emerson for Hesh. Morena Baccarin for Taryl is actually who we listed in the Seekers series bible. However, Chris Pratt doesn't really fit my image of Dastin Faro; I prefer my imaginary casting of Ryan Reynolds.

I've already told KRAD that I have a huge crush on Jurva, the bekk from "The Unhappy Ones", so I have a choice to play her: Katherine Moennig.

(I would never recommend that she play a "regular" Klingon but she would do quite well as a QuchHa' like Jurva)

I'll admit I have thought I could be a pretty voice for Torvig if he were to ever appear in a Trek production. I've wanted to be an actor since I was little, and being in Trek or something like it has always been my absolute dream. Torvig is exactly the kind of role I would love to play.

I once based the main character in an original SF story on myself, only to be told by a beta reader that that character was bland and boring. :o Since then, I haven't dared try it.

I'm sure that would be true for most of us here. Try your goateed evil self - everyone is cooler in the mirror universe.

Our homework for tonight: think about which Trek Lit character, major or minor, we would portray (if you want to be safe, be the voice actor for a non-humanoid ;)).

An excellent suggestion.

If I lost some weight, and Dr Boudreaux was interpreted as Cajun...

I have the right accent and wouldn't trip up on medical jargon, so I have that going for me.

I haven't really followed this thread for a while, but I had some new cast ideas come to mind.

Zhao Sheng: while I agree Chow Yun-Fat would be a good choice, I actually picture (of all people) Ken Watanabe.

Ming Xiong: Jet Li is a good enough choice, but my personal pick is Will Yun Lee. Partly because he deserves bigger roles, and partly because I'd love to see him in Star Trek!
Rick Yune would be a good alternative.

Any roles you guys could recommend for Bryan Cranston?
