Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

Ah well, too bad for me again. For me, her personality kinda sells it...equal parts hottie and technogeek, at least on the show she kinda comes across as such. And she's part Chinese!

As a number of people have commented on Vale's hair changing colour with alarming frequency (maybe she should talk to Troi about that) like Lisa Ryder in Andromeda, has anyone suggested that Ryder be "cast" as Vale?

I think the "number of people" is pretty much just me. Vale actually changes her hair color, unlike Beka, who had this cool ability but left it blond all the time.

I think I have a new candidate for T'Ryssa Chen: Smith Cho, who plays Zoe on the new Knight Rider. I'm not sure she's quite there personality-wise, but she's got kind of the right look (or would if she cut her hair to shoulder-length).

I've just been watching the rerun of this week's Knight Rider to get a better sense of Smith Cho, and I was right -- she is a pretty good choice for T'Ryssa. She's definitely got the look, and she's playing a somewhat similar character (well, similar to who Trys was at the start of the book). Her delivery's a little ditzier than I imagine Trys, though, and she's a few inches shorter than Trys. Stunning smile, though.

"Burn rubber, Joanna!"

"Burning rubber."

^^Yeah... if I were actually casting T'Ryssa, I wouldn't stop the auditions with her; there's probably someone out there who'd come closer. But she's a good indicator of the general physical and personality type I was going for, at least more so than anyone else I can think of. Maybe if you cross her with Kristen Bell and throw in a little Alyson Hannigan, then you'd have it.

...And the slash boards explode.
