Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

Lela Dax (Specifically as of First Steps)?

Emony Dax, as of Old Souls?

Audrid Dax, as of Sins of the Mother?

Torias Dax, as of Infinity?

I went with Juliana Margulies (The Good Wife) as Audrid. The reserved but caring mother and professional just seemed the type.

Ken Leung as Torias Dax because he seemed the young and energetic type.

Has anybody ever considered mentally casting themselves in a role? ;)

Everybody risks Mary-Sueing themselves at some point. Not Trek, but I did cast myself as the lead terrorist in Destination Zero, just because if I was an actor I'd find that kind of character more fun to play.

As for casting myself in a role in somebody else's story that I'm reading, well, there's always the Doctor...

I once based the main character in an original SF story on myself, only to be told by a beta reader that that character was bland and boring. :o Since then, I haven't dared try it.

I've mentally recast Janeway as Kirsten Beyer, which may sound strange, but I'm not fond of Kate Mulgrew. It was this photo that gave me the idea :

I love this idea. Never disliked Mulgrew, but I think Kirsten would make a great Janeway.

Someone suggestet Helen Mirren as Bacco. That was my thought exactly. Or Dame Judi Dench as Bacco.

Esperanza: Salma Hayek

Any suggestions for Sam Bowers, Shar and Vedek Yevir?

He would. I've always imagined the guy that played Principal Wood in Buffy's seventh season, but that's also a strong choice.

I disagree with those options. I think Mirren and Dench's affects are both entirely too upper-class English. You need someone who's more abrasive/charismatic, salt-of-the-earth, American, or at least has that vibe. More of a working-class or middle-class vibe.

I still vote for Kathy Bates, m'self.

One, they're actresses, as you must be aware, they can change the way they talk and the accent they use.

Two, she isn't American, she wasn't even born on Earth was she? She was born on Cetus III and when ever someone from there has appeared, haven't they all for some reason had an "upper-class" English accent?

I don't particularly agree with Dame Helen Mirren as Bacco, but I don't see any reason why Dame Judi Dench couldn't play her.
