Closer. Those would all be voice roles; Huilan could never be a little guy in a suit, but would have to be a digital or animatronic creation. I don't have a voice actor in mind for him, though. Laurie might make an interesting Ree, though it's kind of typecasting. Gorham's voice has never impressed me. I tend to imagine Billy West as Torvig's voice.
I thought that myself when I saw that suggestion, but then I thought, if he did his full on upper class British accent then that would be cool - and yes when I read Ree's dialogue, it is in a very upper class British accent. As for Prynn, how about this actress: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1901842/ She's in the up and coming Joss Whedon series Dollhouse and also appeared for a few years on that wonderful Australian soap Neighbours.

if you're going to cast Statham, at least have the decency to cast Statham as someone who actually runs around blowing shit up and kicking ass, not a glorified doorman. Leybenzon?

While of course it's irrelevant to a fantasy discussion, am I wrong in thinking that Michael Ansara has passed?
You are in fact wrong in thinking that. Of the Klingon "warriors three" from TOS and "Blood Oath," only John Colicos has died (ironic, since he's the only character who survived that second-season DS9 episode).
I'd say that was typecasting too, but I actually modeled the character on the late Stanley Kamel, who was Monk's psychiatrist, so I'm just as guilty there. Err, Lonnoc Kedair is female. IIRC, Dave Mack's preferred choice for the role is Lena Headey.

I'm sorry, but of all of those people only Lindsay Price works for me, that is only because I had the same thought a few months back when I saw some adds for Lipstick Jungle. Although, Dimesdan, the actress you picked looks pretty close to how I imagined Tryss. But I admit that that might be more due to the fact that I've become very attatched to the idea of Grace Park (Number 8 aka Boomer aka Sharon Agathon from Battlestar Galactica) in the role.

Hardly.... First off, Sonya Gomez, Kieran Duffy, and Fabian Stevens all appeared on episodes of Star Trek, so your casting choices are really off, seeing as how Lycia Naff, Charley Lang, and Jay Baker have already played the roles. Even if they weren't, Sanchez might work as Gomez -- but it's a big "might" -- but McConaughey is all wrong for Duffy. (Levi as Stevens, I could maybe see.) As for some of your other choices... While I like Scott Lawrence, he's completely wrong for Tev. As wrong as Lawrence is for Tev, it's as nothing compared to how wrong Ryan Kwanten is for Vinx. And as wrong as Kwanten is for Vinx, it's as nothing compared to how totally thoroughly utterly totally completely inconceivably wrong Penn Jillette is for Bart Faulwell (though you could make an argument for his partner Teller). Jillette at best would top the list of "actors least appropriate to play Bart Faulwell." Having said that, I have no issues with McKellan, Hargitay, Weisman (he'd make a really good Bynar, actually), Wong, Alonso, Smith, Common, Lesure, or Walton. I don't know enough about "The Glamazon" or Cigliuti, though the latter is the right physical type for Conlon.
I don't think she's, well, earthy enough for Bacco. Glen Close was good. I still stand by Kathy Bates, though. No. No no no no no. Sivak is supposed to be elderly -- the male counterpart, so to speak, to Mrs. Landingham from The West Wing. Spader is way too young. I could, however, possibly see Spader as the voice of Secretary of the Exterior Safranski. I like that one. I could see it. Actually, I think I know what Hulian is supposed to look like...
I was going to say she's way too young. Naff herself is currently 46, and here's what she looks like now: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm762486016/nm0619031 However, if Gomez in her TNG appearances (2365) was the same age Naff was at the time (27), then she'd be around 38 in the 2376-7 timeframe of SCE/CoE, and Roselyn Sanchez is 35, older than I thought. So she's viable agewise. But she's a very different type from Naff/Gomez. As it happens, I'm pretty sure I saw Lycia Naff in a commercial a couple of days ago. I can't remember what it was for. I can't see Ian McKellen as Gold. And Bynars were played onscreen by diminutive women with their voices lowered in the audio mix.
Given that she was fresh out of the Academy in "Q Who," she was more likely to be 21 or 22 in 2365, so Sanchez would be the right age, FWIW. I can only because I can see McKellan doing pretty much whatever he puts his mind to do.... Yes, but Weisman would still, I think, be a good Bynar.
You are correct, sir. Huilan is Stitch. The physical descriptions are identical, not to mention his species name.
I really thought I was the only one who thought this. When reading his description, I thought to myself "That's Stitch." And I had assumed that the similarity was intentional as a kind of wave to the Disney character.
Those two actually aren't to bad, although Ian McKellin is not my first choice for Gold. I've always imagined her with an older sounding voice myself. Meh, I've never really pictured her as someone that big and buff. When I made my cast list I went with Marjorie Monohan (Tessa Holoran aka Number One from Babylon 5), who was recommended (by KRAD?) earlier in the thread. Actually, KRAD has said in several interviews, and in this thread that he is "Charles Emerson Winchester The Tellerite", so that pretty much means he has to be played by David Ogden Stires. Meh. I'm really sorry, but IMO they aren't.
