Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

You've not seen any of the Star Wars prequel movies? Wow. I mean, I know there are plenty of people out there who loathe them, but to have not seen them altogether...

how about this: I have not seen Star Wars, full stop. :) It's on the to do list, after about a couple of dozen things such as catch up with all the Trek books. :D

^ If it weren't for a friend who wanted to see it for a second time, I wouldn't've seen Titanic either. OTOH, this is a Trek board, and to tell people that you're a major Trek fan but have not seen SW? :)

Hey, it's only because I'm so devoted to Star Trek that I haven't yet made time to watch Star Wars! :p

I felt the same way-- until I actually saw Fight Club. The advertisements made it seem like a generic testosterone injected beat-em-up movie, but in the end it wasn't that at all. It was a serious mind-f**k ala "The Game".

I've heard about the movie, and it sounds interesting, but I haven't got around to watching it yet. Not sure if I ever will or not.

I'm aware of the twist ending and all that. It is interesting, although it still wouldn't make me anything even remotely interested in watching it. I have never been in a fight in my life, nor would I ever want to, and I don't buy into that "get into a fight to prove you're alive" crap. Hey, f*ck you Tyler Durden, I don't have to prove a damn thing!

Besides, I don't like needless destruction like the kinds of things that Project Mayhem did. I'm not an anarchist...

There is nothing wrong with not seeing the SW movies. But, I rather see any of the SW movies over Titanic again.

This will kill some people: I haven't seen Fight Club yet.

Likewise. Yet. Hopefully sometime soon I shall. *Oh I am evil* Thankfully can't see my LJ. *Laughs* I have a huge list of films I haven't seen ... including ... Blade Runner and Sin City.

The part of Renton from Trainspotting that "inspired" Pennington is not the heroin abuse but rather the cynicism and immersion in a seedy underworld culture. Though that's not where Pennington starts out in Harbinger, it's part of what his future holds. After his disgrace in Harbinger, I've sort of imagined him becoming kind of a fringe "gonzo" journalist, a la Hunter S. Thompson. (Minus the shotgun in the mouth.)

"We were somewhere around Alpha Barstow on the edge of the Taurus Reach when the Saurian brandy began to take hold..."

Ask Bubba D. to show you his "Pennington as HST" sample chapter sometime. It's hilarious. :)

Hunter S. Thompson?
By the way I haven't seen Fight Club either, because I thought the whole thing was just a bunch of guys beating the crap out of each other. But, now that I know there's more to it I'm a little more interested. I'm finally starting to see some of the modern classics like Shindler's List and English Patient, both of which I finally saw last year. And I have seen Titanic and all six Star Wars movies.

Woohoo! My first post winds up stickied!

*Regains composure* Ahem. Cool.

And for other characters -- anyone have any ideas for Ranul Keru? I can't think of an actor who matches his description, though growing a beard wouldn't be a big deal for the right money ;-).

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Adam Baldwin.
