A post in the recent caption contest got me to wondering: what kind of character would Carl Spock be in the universe of Mirror, Mirror?

An advocate for women's rights and a drug -free galaxy?

A Buddhist monk with a shaved head?

The same fellow we know and love, only now he is a respected businessman?

Inquiring minds want to know . . .

He'd be a teatotalling virgin with little or no hair...and he'd also be a vocal opponent of smoking marijuana. That said, he'd still be Carl Spock. And thus, cool on at least one level or another.

It all started in a caption contest many years ago when I added an afro and shades to this picture:

And Carl Spock gained a face.

Shatmandu came up with the name many other posters like cooleddie came up with various gags,jokes and occupations ( undercover cop/pimp/drug dealer) Thusly Carl Spock became a meme that seems to have spread beyond the TrekBBS.

He is the king of 70s Spoxploitation badass dudes.

I've seen Carl Spock outside these boards more than once. It's hilarious beyond words to run into his image somewhere else...and know the true story behind it.

Oh my... I've seen references on my gaming forum (CivFanatics) - I know there are a few of my fellow CFCOT denizens roaming Trek BBS...

The only Trek BBS memes I've been familiar with have been Shouting Spock and the Sombrero, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.

I once came up with the idea of a sombrero wearing a smaller sombrero...which itself was donning an even tinier sombero...and so forth. It was my "Infinite Sombreros" theory and would probably rip a hole in the very fabric of space-time if it were ever attempted.
