Captain Marvel (2019)

Categorical BS. I've never ever seen a case where one of these "protected" works like Ghostbusters, Last Jedi, etc... is criticized in a scholarly way (think Red Letter Media's epic essay on Last Jedi) and the critics aren't still merely shrugged off as racist, misogynistic, bigots.

Some people insist that you're just not entitled to dislike a work if it features women or minorities. To dislike is to commit an Orwellian thought-crime.
This is inaccurate, at least from my experience. Not on YT, not on Reddit and certainly not here. I think I see more levied at me for being a defender of TLJ than otherwise.

Nick Fury has been to Belfast. Though what it had to do with the Cold War, I’m not sure.

It's just silly to get butt hurt over a movie. It's entertainment and is optional. No one is forcing anyone to see it. There's more to worry about in this world than butt hurt feelings over a movie. If it hurts so much you have to lash out at it you seriously need to reassess your priorities.

Same thing with YT videos.

Like I already said, you can be offended by a movie only if you are a black person in the 1915 and you have just watched Birth of a Nation. Not by a movie made only for entertainment which the most subversive message is "You know, perhaps women can do something more than cooking and making children".

There are plenty of films that are offensive to various groups of people. But it's all similar to Birth of a Nation, it's depicting an already marginalized group and just horribly attacking them on screen. Captain Marvel is not that. It's a comic book movie and based on early buzz, it's a lot of fun times and there's a cat that we're all going to love. It is not an assault on white men. No movie is.

Perhaps you should wait until you're done sobbing in a corner about Brie Larson being a meanie to you* before you start accusing anyone else of needing a safe space, champ.

* And not even understanding what she actually said.
Thanks for completely misunderstanding my post, just as I knew you would, champ.

Predictable.

And pathetic.......
