Captain Marvel (2019)

Still is for old folks, I'm sure.

Well, if that's the objection then the Guardians soundtrack must've been resurrected from a dilapidated mausoleum.

The setting is one of the main selling points for me. It's an era of the MCU that outside of Howard's death and a few AoS flashbacks is largely unexplored. It's an era of post-Howard and Peggy run SHIELD, but before Fury-run SHIELD.

It's the same reason I want the FF to be from the 60s in the MCU, to show us another era and fill in the history. I hope that Ant-Man and the Wasp (and the inevitable part 3) delves deeply into Hank and Jan's adventures in the 80s.

I was hoping for a time, for the same sort of reason, that their Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Punisher shows would be set in the 1970s, though obviously the modern-day settings have worked well.

It wasn't me! You can't prove anything!

I don't see what all the outrage is about. As others have pointed out, it likely is a temporary origin story look. As the comics version of Carol Danvers was a supporting character-turned-spinoff superhero of Mar-Vell, it makes sense and is appropriate that they'd incorporate elements of his history into the MCU Captain Marvel. And the comics version has been through a variety of looks...I wasn't even familiar with the look that everyone's expecting until I saw it around here.

I have no loyalty to the character, so I have no horse in the race. That said, I love the green uniform as it is now, and as others said, it's probably a temporary uniform.

But sure, go ahead and freak out about spy photos instead of waiting for something official, the trailer, or, gods forbid, the film itself!

I actually really like the costume we've seen so far. Yes, it's in Kree-blue as opposed to the colors we're expecting her to wear by the film's end, but taken on it's own it's quite good. It not only has all the details a Captain Marvel costume should have, but it also kind of evokes the look of Chris Evans' Captain America costumes. Which I think is a good thing.

And I fully expect this to be merely an origin color scheme, with her in the proper red/gold/blue by the film's end. Her current comic look is simply too good to waste.

Some bystander video that was shot at the time adds a little context to the scene. Very minor spoilers in the video...

It seems like a humorous moment with some poor guy who clearly doesn't know what he's getting into.

The 1990s like the 1970s were crap and best forgotten.

The 1980s era is where it's at!
One of the reasons is the girl punk/pop punk bands were at their height - Veruca Salt, the Breeders, No Doubt, etc. I would expect at least one of these groups to have a song.

There's also the *slim* possibility that a person living in the 90's might at some point want to listen to music from some decade other than the 1990's. Just a thought. ;)

I keep expecting a race car or motorcycle to appear next to her.
