Captain Lorca's "catchphrase"

Dr. Bashirs protege

Commander
Red Shirt
It seems in the one minute trailer "a future worth fighting for" we get a section that may be Lorca's catchphrase/order equivalent to Picard's "make it so" or "engage". In the trailer his phrase seems to be "on my order.....GO!". It's a powerful and well delivered line but at the same time it leaves me cold, I'm not really crazy about it. That being said, the phrase should be something that reflects its character, and him being so direct and to the point does fit with him being a no nonsense military veteran. Thoughts? Do you like it? Do you not?

If he only said it that once, then what I think about it as a catchphrase wouldn't matter, because it wouldn't be his catchphrase.

If it is his catchphrase (and I'd rather him not having an often-used a catchphrase), then I would need to hear him use it in context in additional situations before I can form an opinion of it.

I don't think it's a catch phrase, just a line. This kinda feels like watching a trailer for "Encounter at Farpoint" and seizing on Picard's "let's see what's out there" as a catch phrase. Not every word spoken in trailers is a catch phrase. In fact, I'd say few are. They're lines chosen that sound "exciting".

I understand completely what you mean, may not even be his catchphrase. It only feels that way because of the way it's framed in the trailer and the captain's catchphrase seeming to be a thing in star trek even though sisko and Janeway didn't have one. Well I suppose hers would be something about coffee lol. Even the jjverse has captain pike with a phrase. It feels like if that were his phrase it would be in context of after he's already given everyone detailed instructions and they know exactly what to do. Then he goes into his line. Just my two cents

I know that he's consciously wanted to develop one. He's got definite ideas about his character, and what he wants to do with him. He originally wanted the character to have "Get r done" as a catchphrase, unaware of Larry the Cable Guy. We already know that the character likes to stand and pace a lot, to the point where he prefers standing desks.

So, while we normally might not be able to conclude that "Go" is the catchphrase, there's already been speculation elsewhere that it is, and it certainly fits him.

If I recall correctly, I believe Jason Isaacs said he didn't even sit in the captain's chair until the third episode. It's good to know he's got some latitude, I know creative staff on some shows can be reeeeeally anal retentive about stuff as simple as that. "No no no, you sit because etc..."

I remember when TPTB tried so desperately to give Archer a catchphrase in ENT. Nothing stuck. Picard's catchphrase became so because no one was trying to make a catchphrase.

He tried to give him a catchphrase? Boy it must have failed horribly because I've seen that series twice through and there was never once a line that seemed like it could be used as one. I've already mentioned how I'm not crazy about Lorca's but at least I can spot it's trying to be something.

Archer said something along the lines of "Good to go". A few other things with a kind of NASA test-pilot vibe. Not sure they tried a catchphrase. The language of Enterprise was a bit more everyday sounding, no doubt leading to it seeming a bit dumbed-down.

I wouldn't mind if his version of Picard's "make it so" and Janeway's "do it" is "get it done". I've had actual bosses with that catchphrase. And yes, it was their catchphrase.
