News Captain Jack Harkness finally meets River Song...in Big Finish boxset

So I listened to the last story first and pretty much enjoyed it.

It was fun to see the two characters interact and be part of some fairly big moments in their lives, quite literally.

River seems to know that "the restaurant" is when she will near the end of her life. Is that referenced in the series? She seems quite sure her destiny will end there.

The episode feels like a one and done crossover to me although they really deserve a spin off (on TV).

“The restaurant” is the one on Darillium, built where the starship crashed, and River strongly suspects in “The Husbands of River Song” that her date there with the Doctor will be their last night together. (Which contradicts “Forest of the Dead,” where she’s very clearly only working that out in hindsight, but whatever.)

Ok, I listened to the series. I have mixed feelings. Some episodes, in particular the first felt too much like 'The Diary of River Song' all over again with River having the upper hand and trying to wipe the Doctor's memory again. It's my own fault for thinking like that though because the River the 10th Doctor first meets is the mature River who has had a long relationship with the Doctor, you could say she has mellowed. While the River in the audios is a younger, cheeky version that is a bit too clever for her own good. The last episode of the run was my favorite and I liked that both the Doctor and River were on unsure footing.
As the most anticipated audio release of the year I was a bit let down but I liked that we got to fill in some gaps.

Anyone else listen to it? I am kinda surprised it didn't generate more response here.

Oh, one last thing. I listened to the behind the scenes audio for this also and found it interesting to learn that Steven Moffat had River's arc fairly well planned out according to Kingston so maybe River's story in the 11th era was planned out long in advance. I thought that was quite interesting as I thought it was something that had come later.

^I've assumed River's backstory was worked out when Moffat was planning season 5, the tell-tale moment being when he changed the new companion's name to Amy Pond (I remember there was a different name for her in Moffat's earliest notes, but I'm having trouble tracking it down). The Pond/River connection, and Amy being set from her first episode to get married (so she could have a baby on a kid's TV show without it being a Very Special Plotline), indicate the groundwork for River's backstory was there from the jump.

I’ve listened to the first of the Ten/River audios, but I didn’t find it super-exciting, so I didn’t rush to listen to the other two. It’s a clever concept that doesn’t really work in practice, and surely a story that’s the first meeting of these characters since 2008 should feature more of them interacting directly? The plot twists were fine, but it’s not really delivering on the potential of the set.
