Since I've rarely ventured into this thread forgive me if it has been brought up but is Sharon Carter in this movie do we know and if so has she been cast? I'd imagine that she would possibly appear at the end of the movie or maybe in the sequel.

It's a WWII story so its likely she will be saved for a sequel. I hope Cap doesn't get completely absorbed into the Avengers as I've never been an Avengers fan and his character has more than enough legs to carry a couple of movies solo with a supporting cast like in Iron Man. Since Cap tends to be a 'low powered' comic it might even have lower production costs once it comes into the modern era. Fingers crossed that we see Cap, Falcon, Sharon (maybe even sidekicks like Nomad, Demolotion Man, and Diamondback) in future Cap movies.

The movie is set in WWII, so it's going to have Peggy Carter (Sharon's Sister/Aunt/Relative) as the main love interest.

Sharon will probably be reinvented as her great-niece or something for the modern films if they want to keep her in her late 20s-early 30s.

Yes. They'd have been better off using the Infinity Formula to keep her young i.e. middle-aged. A middle-aged retired spy can be fun (see the BBC TV series of Spooks). Peggy has drifted off into senility now as the war has really dated her.

Originally, Sharon was just Peggy's younger sister (it was about 20 years since WWII when she first appeared) and it's not totally unlikely that there could be that big an age gap between siblings.

20 years later they changed it so that she was her niece.

Now, they're going to eventually make her Peggy's GREAT-Niece.

Maybe it's for the best they just say that Sharon is related to Peggy but not say how anymore.

Physically, I think Alice Eve is the best choice for Sharon if they ever use her.

^ I've only been reading 616 Captain America since Brubaker took over as well as the Ultimate version. I think Alice Eve would have been perfect for Sharon too.

I started reading Cap when Stan Lee was writing it!! Stan first introed Peggy Carter as a nameless woman who fought alongside Cap in WWII and who was a dead ringer for Sharon Carter who was working with Cap in the present day. She's also been shown to be the woman agent disguised as the elderly owner of the curio shop that was a cover for "Operation: rebirth" ( which transformed Steve Rogers into Captain America). Small world, eh?

Peggy was supposed to look like Sharon? They look nothing alike in most flashbacks, I mean Peggy was brown haired and Sharon was always blond.

Well after Cap meets Sharon in Tales of Suspense #75 he says "Only once before in my life have a beheld a face like that--The same hair--the same form--the same smile!!" (He's talking about Peggy) So Cap sees the resemblence. No idea about he hair color, I'm quoting from Essential Captain America Vol 1, which is in black and white.

Well, they can lift one piece from the 90s Captain America movie and have Sharon be Peggy's grand-daughter or something.

Yes, it would be somewhat bizarre but maybe that can be a dramatic point: Cap finds this great lady he wants to be with, finds out she's the granddaughter of a woman he loved and has to deal with how mildly disturbing this is for him.

Well, it is a pairing that makes sense: Both are super-soldier attempts by the Soviets who have been used and brainwashed, both are octogenarians, etc.

It's not as bad as Ultimate Marvel, where god damn EVERYTHING revolved around the Super-Soldier serum. The Symbiotes, ALL Mutants, the Hulk characters...
