Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors, etc

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Mentioning a small list of characters who are enhanced humans that includes Wanda but not Pietro suggests that Pietro is out of the equation. This just added to the fact that somebody in the pre-release AoU thread verified outside of spoiler code that either Rhodey or Quicksilver dies in AoU. Not too hard to see that coming at this point.

Ok, I can understand that. But it is also easily possible that someone just failed to mention each character. After all, in the original version of that comment, they included Quicksilver, but did not include Captain America. People should try not to spoil anything, but I don't think a comment like this one is really worth getting up in arms about.

Well only Wanda has been said to be appearing in Civil War, which was the point I was addressing. It'd be a bit of a non-sequitur to bring up Quicksilver in that context. Indeed, just drawing attention to that fact as this little exchange has already done is much more likely to tip people off.

This is one of those things that only seems like a spoiler if you're in the know. Anyone that could infer what happens to Quicksilver based on what I said would already have done so based on his not being cast in Civil War.

So let's all just relax, yes?

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

For the record, I wasn't getting "up in arms" about the actual implied spoiler, just being cautionary. What I did get up in arms about was the suggestion that I should stay out of all MCU threads until I've seen AoU. That's not how things work around here.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

There's also Pepper (Unless Tony 'cured' her somehow)

Unless I'm really misremembering Iron Man 3, yeah, Pepper got cured at the end of that movie.

She did indeed, they kind of fast forwarded through the post movie events but the implication was they both underwent their separate procedures.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

We don't know what her procedure entailed for sure. Or what Tony meant by "fixing this".

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Maybe, but Extremis did largely end up with people going boom before long, even long term I don't know how stable these people were.

Pepper is off overseeing the operation of Stark Industries newest projects like it's another work day, so I think she's pretty much cured.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Hmmm... I've completely missed that every time I've watched it. If she's really entirely cured, that would be a shame, because that particular possibility was easily the most interesting possible storyline to come out of IM3.

i was never crazy about the bleeding edge armor. i'd rather see the recent black and gold.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Martin Freeman adds to his list of genre roles with an unspecified part in CA:CW. Wonder if he shares screen time with Dr Strange?

Although I like him, I am getting slightly tried of seeing him and Benedict Cumberbatch in nearly everything these days. Plus to me he'll always just be Tim Canterbury :)

So do people think he'll be playing a new "superhero," and if so any guess on how he could be?

Could be it's just a "minor role" like Julie Delpy or Linda Cardellini in Age of Ultron, but after The Hobbit Trilogy he is kind of a big name to just have in a small role.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

^ My guess would be politician or the like. Aren't most of the superheroes cast by now?

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Yeah, just to do Civil War justice its more the merrier really.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

A huge rundown on the cast list for Civil War at ComicBookResources.

An intriguing one is the return of William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross, last seen in '08's The Incredible Hulk. The least cited Marvel film sadly.

Cast of characters:
Captain America
Iron Man
Black Widow
Winter Soldier
Falcon
Vision
Hawkeye
War Machine
Scarlet Witch
Black Panther
Ant-Man
Sharon Carter/Agent 13
Brock Rumlow/Crossbones
Thunderbolt Ross
Martin Freeman as ????

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

I have to say, so far I'm finding myself a whole lot more excited for this movie than I was the new Avengers (which honestly felt a bit tired and routine to me, and too much like a repeat of the first movie).

Having all these new characters should bring a whole lot of fresh energy to the team and provide for a lot of fun new interactions and dynamics. And that's even before you throw Spidey in to the mix!

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Good lord, there's a lot of characters in this movie. Not gonna lie. This concerns me a bit that there may be too many. I really hope this focuses mainly on the conflict between Rogers and Stark with the Winter Soldier storyline being a B plot and everyone else just playing supporting roles in this story.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

It's really shaping up as Avengers 2.5. But I have faith in the film-makers who brought us the superb TWS. I imagine that a lot of the superheroes will have little more than cameo appearances.
