I think a bad show runner would work the same way as an unpopular Doctor, they'd be replaced fairly quickly.
Exactly. For all the fans who want Moffat's head on a pike along Traitors Row because they think he's a disaster, the more important people -- namely, the people at the BBC who sign his paycheck and allocate his budget -- think he's doing a bang-up job, otherwise they would have canned him. Everyone's replaceable, even the producer.
Even though I don't have nearly as many problems with Moffat as many do I kinda hope he'll step aside fairly soon, though as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.
If the next Doctor is female, I'd be ever so tempted not to watch the show anymore, and I'm a massive DW fan so goodness knows what other people with similar views will think. Most people I know would hate a female doctor.
I'd be very interested in seeing a woman in the role so long as Moffat didn't write her. I like Moffat a lot, but the dude can't write for women.
The only female doctor I'd approve of is Joana Lumley but even then I'd still be a bit pissed off. But I think a female Doctor would be too much of a gimmick and it'd get in the way of the show, plus it'd be the closest to a protest I could do right now so I'd probably like give the first episode a chance maybe but unless it's one of the best episodes ever, I'd give up.
I remember thinking though that every female (save Lumley) is my least favourite choice for the 12th doctor, but my second least favourite choice was actually Capaldi and he got cast

It was a long time ago but I remember Lynda Day in Press Gang as a very good female character.
So, to be clear, they could have hired Justin Beiber or Adam Sandler and you'd be happier than if they'd signed Helen Mirren?
<Smacks Starkers and Green Lantern with a baseball bat for Blasphemy> I think a Parker Posey-type would be awesome (Though obviously she'd need to be a Brit) as the Doctor. Helen Mirren or Joanna Lumley could be pretty great as well, but, they're both almost 70 years old, and certainly would be at least 70 by the time they got hired and started filming, could they keep up with the pace, and stay in the role for several years? Fionnula Flannigan coould be pretty amazing too, but, she does seem to be slowing down, and I'm not sure she has a "Lead Role of a Series" left in her, though, she's still doing lots of smaller role work. So, to be clear, they could have hired Justin Beiber or Adam Sandler and you'd be happier than if they'd signed Helen Mirren?
My god yes. They'd be crap but sooner them than Miren. She'd be awful IMO. As I stated, any female other than Joana Lumley is the least favourite candidate for the next doctor, and even Lumley is still low down.
You introduced the Blasphemous idea, LOLWhat am I being smacked for? I was just highlighting the utter ridiculousness of GL's position on this!
I'm contacing my lawyer!![]()
And this would be bad, because...?Be careful what you wish for. A female Doctor? Logic would lead you to the DoctorDonna and Catherine Tate as the next Doctor.![]()
