Well, I'm still holding out hope we can do something a perhaps keep Enterprise going on a different network. I don't want to say goodbye.

thats what happens when you have fuckheads running the franchise

And as for my warning....

Screw you Stewey and your cancel Enterprise crew.

Warning for flaming. Please stop with comments like this, it's not worth it. Just cool down guys.

I kept quiet for all of certain peoples ramblings and rantings, so I accept this awar...warning as a badge of honor. But please check that it's only one warning. I know it looks as though two of you warned me for the same offense.

Badge of Honor?....... Stewey didn't even post a comment here yet all of the people who gloated in this thread you ignore them but bash the guy that kept silent. You must be proud.

Not to get much further into it, my remark was for all the hard work that person has done to have the show cancelled. I held it in for too long.

Don't worry,....

(to be concluded)

Re: The lack of promotion .... Just the other day, I mentioned to someone I work with that I was a fan ... and she told me that she'd never really watched the show, but she knew a couple of people who were into it and had become curious, and hey, is there even a version airing right now?

****

Okay, this sucks. I was really hoping we'd get at least one more year and let this show really go out on a (longer) high note. But let's face it: This isn't the fourth season of Enterprise -- it's the 25th season of modern Trek. There is a saturation point, and I think it's fair to say that we've gone well past it.

No matter how ignoble this ending (at least for now) seems, Star Trek is still arguably the most successful franchise in history. I have very little doubt that at some point in the future, someone will decide to take another stab at it. Hopefully, with the passage of a little time, the next version will be able to take a fresher approach, and will have a new energy that gets people excited again.

Promoting it a little, of course, won't hurt either.

In the meantime, let's remember: Thirty years ago, there were 79 episodes to watch over and over, a bleak history of low ratings and little revenue for the studio and network, and almost no realistic hope for a revival. Even when that revival did come, it took the form of an occasional movie that might or might have been the final story.

On the other hand, we now have 700 episodes and 10 movies to look back on, plus a still pretty healthy tie-in market. And proof that the show can be successful and profitable if it's handled right. We've had it, and have it, pretty good.

Trek will be back.

We might as well face it:

RIP TREK

What with SG-1, SG-Atlantis and BSG as the "new" franchises, Trek will fall of the television radar now, to live on in fanfic and books.

Movies?

 (bitter laugh)

Nonsense. ST came back after 10 yrs, once before, and back on tv after 18. Look at all the remakes these days. In 5-10 years, someone will have an idea, maybe a STNG fan who became a producer, and the studio will look at its books and see how well Star Trek has done for them over a long period, and it will be brought back somehow. Bank on it.

For me this is the death of Star Trek. We will not see a new series or a new movie in the foreseeable future. Maybe, maybe in ten or twenty years but that's so far off in the future for me to care.

Well, for me I don't think it is the death of Star Trek. Star Trek will live on, even though Enterprise has been canceled. TOS was canceled, and Star Trek lived on.

Even if it does take 10 years before it gets back up on its feet, the time will come.

Farewell, Enterprise. I wasn't impressed by the first couple of seasons, nor by parts of the third, but there has been real improvement since then. I was just starting to find myself actively looking forward to the next episode, rather than watching it simply out of loyalty to the franchise, hoping for a show I could love. The sad truth, of course, is that if the improvement had come a year earlier, cancellation would no doubt be a non-issue.

Best wishes to everyone who's worked on the show - you've put a great deal of effort into providing us with quality entertainment, and you deserve far better than to have the show cancelled as those efforts are beginning to really pay off! Good luck to everyone and thank you for everything!

This is terrible news and I'd like to say unexpected, but I always doubted that Enterprise would have seven years as the last three shows had, but I did think it have lasted longer than this. :( :( :(

Star Trel Lives!

you know what , fuck it . this will probably engender a warning, and possibly suspension, but i dont care. i am fucking pissed off and while i dont mean any of these rantings, i feel i have to vent. bear in mind i would not do this to les mooneves.

february 3 2005 a white ford is rapidly traversing around wilshire boulevard careening at eighty. the time is 335 pm. les mooneves who just recently cancelled enterprise and is elated is startled at first/ he dismisses the screechings of the white ford as some driver making a sharp maneuver . three seconds later he turns around only to have himself ascended eighty feet in the air courtesy of the ford hitting him at eighty miles per hour. mooneves falls on the ground in obvious pian. the assislant takes a bat and proceeds to smash it over moonves head until his head splits open like a grapefruit . he then sets moonves on fire , and then subsequently vaporizes him with a phaser, recently invented

Well. even the greatest get cancelled. Look at TOS. But even though ENT wasn't the best Trek series ever, it was in my opinion better than Voyager in most ways and that got seven full years. I fail to see while ENT did not. Well, Les Moonves isn't the first tv exec to underestimate the viability of Star Trek. Sorry to all involved. I was really digging this season.

I agree.

It wil be back.

The next incarnation though should start over with a new version of TOS. Kirk, Spock and everyone else.

Let a new generation of kids grow up on it.

How many of us got hooked on to Sci-Fi because of Trek? I know I did.

but since they aren't.... :scream:  :scream:

wouldn't it be great to have it on SCIFI

they coulda put it in front of SG1 where Andromeda is now

then you could watch Ent, SG1, Atlantis, BSG in one sitting on one channel :D

QUALMS FROM THE START
By Darth MacCartney
(to the tune of "Faith of the Heart")

"It took too much time,
Getting from there to here.
F**ked up the timeline,
But at last we're finally here.

And I will see nerds dreams
Fall apart at last.
Pardon if I'm rude.
'Cause we've seen the last of the Archer crew
No, they're not going to be renewed.

'Cause I've had qualms from the start.
Berman took us in the wrong direction.
Had no brains and no heart.
And they could get nothing right.
Now relief is in store
And no one's gonna be too sorry
They're not here
Anymore.
I've had--I've had--I've had
I've had qualms
Qualms from the start."
Warning for trolling.
Now, how’s that trolling? Just a negative comment at best. I appreciate the humor in those lyrics, DarthMacCartney .

I am a little saddened to see Enterprise end, like this, even though I haven’t been following the show for quite some time now. It feels a bit weird to know that there won’t be any new Trek on air at all. Something to get used to I guess. My condolences to all who love the show. May Trek as a whole come back one day strong and kicking butt!

:wtf:

"Eight of Nine" - The Ataris

These hospital walls are the palest of white.
Here in this desert they're reciting my last rites.

The smell of these halls bring temporary comfort
as the oxygen flows through my blood.
El corazon was poisoned tonight…
She's on her eight of nine.

When half of all your prayers are insincere,
the other half are lies.

Here is this watermark under this bridge.
The point where it all crested,
rolled back and drifted into the sea.
I climb from this wreckage

as the smoke begins to clear from my lungs.
The closest of close calls has happened tonight.

It's time that I made things right
for the first time, since the last time.
Let this moment of clarity
lift this curse that has been cast upon me.

Appreciate the good times, but don't take the worst for granted.
'Cause you only get so many second chances

"So Long, Astoria" - The Ataris

It was the first snow of the season,
I can almost see you breathing in the middle of that empty street.
Sometimes I still see myself in that lonesome bedroom
playing my guitar and singing songs of hope for a better future.

Life is only as good as the memories we make
and I'm taking back what belongs to me.
Polaroids of classrooms unattended.
These relics of remembrance are just like shipwrecks,
only they're gone faster that the smell after it rains.

We said that we would never fit it
when we were really just like them.
Does rebellion ever make a difference?

So long, Astoria, I found a map to buried treasure.
And even if we come home empty handed we'll still have our stories
of battle scars, pirate ships and wounded hearts,
broken bones and all the best of friendships…

this is my wish and I'm taking it back, I'm taking 'em all back.

*cue scores of other sappy music*

Well, to get it over with, here's to soon-to-be-absent friends...

*glug*

This one's for Series VI in 06'. :)

DH: What is wrong with you tonight?

ME: They canceled Star Trek.

DH: Didn't they do that once already?

ME: Dumb look. Uhh, yeah.

DH: How did that work out for them?

ME: Oh yeah.

Maybe there is hope?
