I'm a long term star trek watcher. A sad day.

My best wishes to all those connected with the show, who received an awful shafting.

The sun will come out, tomorrow - but today is a sad day.

Don't think i'll be watching a lot of UPN, or buying a lot of startrek merchandise.

Now I almost feel foolish for my obnoxious Phloxian optimism! I just couldn't believe they'd do this. It's not just about ENT and crappy ratings on a friday night with no promotions. It's about the entire Star Trek franchise. I simply couldn't believe that Moonves or anyone would so callously kill it, which it what they have done. There will be no new series or movie. There will be no two or three year break, no matter what Moonves says. Star Trek is DEAD as of the series finale of ENT.

Honey, we all need some Phlox optimism every now and then... But I agree with you on everything you say. I feel exactly the same...

Your first post was questionable after the notice I put about not gloating, but I decided to let it go because you were entitled to your opinion. These two push you waaaaay over the line. There is no reason to come in here and piss on the fans. Stay out if this is all you can contribute.

Just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse..... :wtf: :scream:

To all the folks that worked at ENT.....thank you for four years of fun. It's been a helluva ride. *toasts ENT cast and crew*

Tripsy :(

Ulva, today the Earl of Muffenstein just doesn't feel like blowing the household trumpet. Uggggh. If you feel anything like I do, I'd have accepted a bunch of cheesy T&A/relationship episodes just to keep the show on the air. :( :wtf: :scream:

I must say I'm rather pessimistic about the future of Trek as a whole. The last film failed, the last series failed, the one before didn't really end succesfully. And there is growing unrest and bitterness among the Trekkers themselves.

Let's face it people: there is a lot of competition these days when it comes to good sci-fi. Battlestar Gallactica is back, Stargate has a second show: other shows are rising and ST is going down.

Personnally I don't think it's that simple, just to blame B&B. Maybe ST does need a break. Maybe the creative forces behind the franchise (what a hiddeous word though for the wonder that Star Trek is) need to take a step back and think about what could succesfully translate something which a basically a 20th century concept into the 21st century one.

On the other hand: as I stated before, if you look at all the work that has been produced for Star Trek in general (over 600 45 minute episodes and 10 1,5 hour movies) it must be hard to surprise people. Star Trek is becoming old (40 years is a long time). Maybe it has become oldfashioned in its style, unable to spark interest among the more general public and even sci-fi fans. That is why I'm also not so optimistic about ENT's chances of being picked up by another network (although I'd be glad to be proven wrong on this point).

As much as I enjoyed ENT, I can't say that I was really excited about it, except maybe once at the end of season one and part of season 3. I loved it because it was Trek. I acted like a faithful lover almost. I've only seen ENT through illegal ways (downloading). The network here in Belgium has only begun airing last september, so they are half way season 1. What I've seen from season 4 looked promising, but I stopped downloading as soon as I got word from the DVD-release this year. Too bad there won't be anything else to follow in september, when season 5 would have begun airing. The biggest nightmare of Trek-fans has come true: the fate of Trek is in the hands of business men!!

Warning for trolling for you too. Gloating is inappropriate.

Guys, please be careful about flaming Moonves, B&B, etc. I understand tensions are high, but the more we can avoid that, the better.

Bullshit. I did not cross the line. I did not *gloat*. The first post asked a question and I answered with my opinion. That is SO not warn-worthy. The second part you quote is also not trolling. Yellow Rose was being a drama queen/king, and I asked a question. A question is not trolling. The warning has no merit and should be removed. Thank you.

I'm looking at the bright side. The loss of Season 5 might mean that we're one year closer to the next incarnation of TREK--be it on TV or film.

I won't be there. The next series will be treated even worse than Enterprise was and I refuse to put any more emotional investment in a show that gets treated like shit by its network

I agree. I will never accept another Trek series with a new crew. Or Enterprise or nothing. Better nothing.
This is the end of Star Trek ... I will miss Scott/Archer and the other so much :(

People people.....Optimism! :)

There is still Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis.

And lets not forget that Battlestar Galactica is rocking the free world.

There is still plenty of excellent sci-fi on TV (even Smallville if that's your sort of thing).

Although I'm not disappointed to see ENT go, I add my condolences for those of you who have enjoyed and supported the show through thick and thin. Paramount and TPTB have failed you as much as I feel they have failed Star Trek, through their lack of support and understanding of the value of Star Trek and its fans.

I hope that within the next 5 years, we will see a fresh and committed revival of the franchise by people who not only care about the continued life of Star Trek, but who also take the time to understand how difficult and demanding the market is, not only for genre shows but for all entertainment, and that they make a serious attempt to push the boundaries that they have seemed either too fearful or too complacent to even approach for the last decade.

Star Trek and its fans deserve better than they've received at the hands of the stewards.
