CANCELLED

Just when I am finally warming up to Enterprise, it's being cancelled. How ironic. During the first two seasons, I never had anything good to say about this series, but season three was really great. And season four just rocks, and I would even dare to count it among the best stuff Star Trek has ever done.

And now we are supposed to believe that it's over? Just now, that Manny Coto has corrected all the things that had been wrong with Enterprise? Now, that even the hardest critics are beginning to like the show? It's a mad, mad world.

And what's even worse: It's not only the end of Enterprise, it's the end of all Star Trek! We won't be seeing anything new in a looong time!

This is just not fair!

I'm going to have a huge drink now. And then I'll be crying myself to sleep.

:( :scream: :( :scream: :( :scream: :( :scream: :(

Unfortunate since it just started getting good. Here's to 3 full years of wasted opportunities.

A much needed break will be good for it all in the long run.

Thanks for the optimism, PhotoBoy.

As Kirk said, I always like to think there are... possibilities...

As Trek leaves TV, let's be thankful for what we did get, IMO: 25 seasons worth of good TV since TNG's premiere, plus several movies. It was a good run, and Trek will much be missed. As for Enterprise itself, I think it'll one day be looked upon as some of the most underrated Trek in the franchise.

I won't miss it, I'll still have SG-1 and the new Galactica for my Scifi. I like action shows more than Scifi. My favorites are Alias, 24, NCIS and JAG. Plus I'll have Smallville. Well its been fun chatting in here. I'm not sure I'll need to come to this forum again.

Screw (F)U PN and Paramount. Goddamn bastards.

I feel so horribly crushed and in shock. Fighting back tears. I loved this show beyond description, and it was improving with age. First Farscape, now this. I have watched every EP since the first one aired...c'est la vie.

Thanks for 4 fabulous years cast and crew.

There is no justice... and now I will NEVER get an ENT calendar, fuck!!!!

Bring on the DVDs!

I'm a Trek fan from back in TOS.

I watched Enterprise. It is a disappointment to me.

However, I do not understand why a network would cancel something that is finally starting to get good. What kind of numbers did they think they were going to get on Friday night anyway?

Do they have no idea what happened with TOS?

I'm glad my company isn't run this way.

I always wanted to like this show, and at points I did. While season 2 and early season 3 dragged a bit, the last half of season 3 was actually very very good, and I was starting to really take an interest in Enterprise again.
From what I have heard about season 4, it sounds a real cracker and the UPN execs have really screwed over the loyal fans, and fans (like me) who were starting to take an interest again. I don't "get" these American networks who start a new series, and then cancel it halfway through - are they just unable to make mature decisions? Are they not gutsy enough to stick with a series til it ends? I was similarily pissed off when Futurama was cancelled - my apologies to the Simpsons fans of later seasons, but I really wished the Simpsons had been cancelled instead.

*** EDIT ***

Actually, the real "blame" belongs to the creators of ENT, because from the start they created a product that was lacking in imagination - in my opinion of course - but, the last one and a half seasons have been (from what I saw of season 3 and from what I've heard of season 4) have been superb and a sad waste of talent and good story telling. This is very frustrating and depressing.

Despite everything, I didn't really think it would happen. I thought for
sure they'd pull one more season out of the hat. The show has improved
mostly this year. At the very least, I expected Paramount to wait until the
11th hour of May to decide or not. Guess they didn't have much hesitation
though.

Just, wow. First time since TOS a show has been cancelled. With TNG, DS9,
VGR, they all did their full seven season runs. This is really... weird.
Star Trek has been cancelled. Paramount has previously said they will wait
at least two or three years before doing anything more, film wise, with Star
Trek. For the first time in nearly twenty years, Star Trek will soon be off
the air. :(

Amazing. A bummer on an otherwise great day for me personally.

This season was the best of Enterprise yet, and I was certaintly looking forward to many more great episodes to come in future seasons.

*raises his soft drink* To Star Trek and Enterprise! May they live on forever!!

And people who don't like the show, let's try to be a little sensitive here. Not just for the fans - there are now a couple members of this forum who are soon to be out of jobs.

Sorry for you fans who liked the show. I was there for the cancellation of TOS after S3 and I'm sure your pain now is similar to what I felt then. (Although I was only 11 then and TV shows meant a lot more to me then than they do now :))

I was lucky enough to witness the resurgence of Trek and I'm confident that we'll see it again sometime in the future.

In the meantime, remember all the great episodes, watch your old tapes and DVDs, and read some of the novels - I think you'll be glad you did!

Well, I have absolutely no reason to watch UPN ever again.

Moonves knew they were going to do this, even last season (they just wanted enough episdoes to make a good syndication package to put out there).

UPN is now about programming for Urban and women targets, with some bad reality TV thrown in the mix. Enterprise never fit in the mold there these past few TV seasons.

Well, thanks to the cast and crew for a good run. I have enjoyed it.

I hope that they at least take the time to start working on a new movie incarnation to keep us loyal fans happy.

my condolences to all you enterprise fans. i've made my feelings about the show well enough known in the past but my heart goes out to you.

My feelings exactly. Let's just look forward to what Trek will have to offer in the future.
