I just hope they have some kind of plans to make the finale a real finale and not just another ep (and definitely not a cliff-hanger).

I'd love for the finale to end with the real start of the Romulan war and have a miniseries (set a few years later) to finish off the war and have the BOTF. I know it's a silly hope, but that's what I'd like.

    That's what I'm hoping, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. :(

The thing that irks me the most is Berman going on about how people are "oversaturated" with Trek. Talk about DENIAL. It sickens me to no end when I hear people not TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for fucking up. He and his little asshole buddy Braga (who I blame to an even GREATER degree) were too arrogant to admit they were not willing to get the writing talent necessary to raise the show above the lowest common denominator. Now they're going to write the finale and, mark my words, it WILL suck. As far as cancellation goes, the show deserved it, if for any other reason than to clean house. Hell, the actors know the stories and writing
have sucked and have become increasingly vocal about it. Manny Coto? Too little too late. He's just being used as a fall guy.
So all I have to say to B&B is good riddance and F-U.
I'd rather have NO Trek than BAD Trek.

I can't say I'm shocked. Star Trek fans are a minority in a majority-ruled time. (Or shall I say stupidity-ruled?) I'm not going to go cry or anything, but there will always be something "missing" on Fridays from now on. At least the show will be syndicated eventually. I still haven't seen most of the first two seasons... :(

Berman and Braga won't be involved with any future Trek tv series. Jeez, people. You think they're going to sit on their asses and do nothing between now and a series that won't happen for at least three to five years? Even if they did Paramount will hire new producers...producers who have never been involved with the franchise before. So forget about Moore or Behr...or Piller or Taylor or whoever.

Out of all of the TREK shows i feel more closer to ENT than any of the other ones manly because...

    * set only a 100+ years from were we are now.

    * The characters are more like us today than the past shows because they make more mistakes and are less perfect in there morals and emotions towards situations.

    * The humor on the show is more refreshing than past shows.

    * No matter what ppl say, the technology is less advanced which makes it more intresting than the other shows, maybe not TOS in this way as ENT and TOS didn't solve situations as the other shows coz of the shows tech.

    * Season 4 espically we saw makings of the Federation and everything we saw of Humans in the other shows.

    * Was nice to see the Klingons not our allies and to see them as kind of bad guys again.

Ahem. They did bring back Gene Rodenberry Twice (once for TMP and 2nd for TNG). TPTB maybe greedy but they are not stupid. Piller and Moore and have good track records and are fan favorites. They probably be on the top of the list.

:scream: Now that I have calm down, I must admit that At the anouncment of a fourth season last year I had a feeling that no matter how well the season went, unless it became a top 20 show, that the 4th season was going to be the last. It didn't matter that this show is better than it was four years ago.
In the end, for UPN, it was all about money, as it was for Paramount, that's why there was a 4th season, better to go into syndication with 88 episodes then with 66 episodes.
    I'm rambeling, I know.
While Enterprise was not as good as TOS, TNG, or DS9 (That not including DS9 first two seasons) But ENT was by far more superior than VOY ever was. :p

You know what, at this point screw cannon. I mean the Eugenics wars never happened in our universe. Have somebody drop into an alternative universe and start from scratch. we have the mirror universe, how about the fresh universe. Infinate variations and possiblities, right?

Can't say I blame him. Producing is his career, and producing a Trek series is as good as it got in the '90's.

That being said, I have to disagree about him being out of steam ten years ago. Try TNG season five. I've been watching that season for the first time on Spike this month...whoo, boy. Not that it was bad, but something was truly lacking. I damn near felt like I was watching VOY--and that is not a compliment. Seasons six was a bit better, but season seven got pretty damn dull once TPTb turned it into an ad campaign for DS9 with all the Cardassian stories  I'm not bashing on DS9, but IMO, Cardassians had no business on TNG.

Berman may have saved Trek, but after GR died, his lack of talen shone through brightly.

I agree here, too, and I'm no basher. When I saw the numbers "Babel One" got on Tuesday, I thought, "Oh, fuck. This show's dead." I just didn't expect the cancellation announcement to be the next day.

Besides, look at the trends from each season. Every season sees it's highest-rated episode in October, and goes into sharp decline in January. At that rate, ENT would be getting worse numbers than "Game Over" by season seven.

I agree with the "screw canon" stuff. At this point, I just want to be told stories that entertain me. With only once exception so far in the 4th season, ENT has done exactly that.

And that, my friends, is (as yet) a higher success rate than my beloved TOS and TNG gave me in any one season. But we still have ten to go. We shall see.

If the next Trek advertises itself as non-canon or alternate universe or whatever, I probably won't watch.

If it's not keeping the continuity, use new aliens and call it something else - not Trek.

Anna - you are a piece of work. :p

I guess this is going to be more and more common as time goes on and you have all these series out there, with 3 of them that took place in the same approx timeframe, but with more and more viewers having not seen any of it first-run, in order.... But sweety :p, the Cardassians were introduced in TNG first - in the 4th season TNG "The Wounded" - that ep airing a full 2 years before DS9's premier. TNG then brought on semi-regular Ensign Ro Laren (who you would be seeing in your viewing of season 5) to begin the Bajoran/Cardassian development, along with Ensign Sito Jax later to further the Bajoran/Cardassian lines. Of course DS9 used this as the initial background material for its show, using Major Kira Nerys as the replacement for Ro, who was originally to have that part on DS9 (but I believe Michelle Forbes was not interested). ;)

And just as a point of reference, TNG's 5th season gave the show (and Star Trek), it's highest ratings of the entire series and all of Trek save for the premier of DS9. And in fact, that was the season when TNG actually became the #1 Nielsen show for 4 weeks in a row - beating out the likes of Monday Night Football, etc., for top honors.

The 5th season was also when Roddenberry died and there was an "In Memorium" tag to Roddenberry at the beginning of TNG "Unification I", which was the first ep to air after his death.
